line mod valve

Line Modulator Valve. It's a small part that goes in the transmission to make it shift quicker/firmer at 1/2 to full throttle. I purchased it last year and I do like it. Without a chip, it still doesn't really 'chirp' the tires on the 1-2 shift, but it's much better than the factory 1-2 shift which seems real slow and soft. My opinion is, with the line mod valve, it shifts the way a factory performance vehicle should shift under heavy throttle. Otherwise, you really don't notice any difference under normal part-throttle acceleration.

With foot-thru-firewall acceleration, my truck will chirp into second now. Can't explain it as my truck is completely stock. And now my engine is gonna be replaced. I hope the new one is even stronger, but I don't harbor any illusions.

Hey Stevie-Ray,
How many miles do you have on those Goodyears? I have 18.5K on mine now and *sometimes* they do chirp when I hit 2nd. Was wondering if it was just the tire wearing out.

It's a combination of the Eagle's wearing out and the colder air, at least here in Michigan. I just replaced my Eagle F1's with Toyo Proxes S/T's. They are a slightly harder compound tire, which translates to better treadwear as long as I can keep from spinning them too much. To me, the Eagles aren't a good choice of tire for a 4800 pound high performance truck, unless you don't mind dropping $800-1000 or more for tires every 15-20 thousand miles.

Nope, my tires have only 10.5K on them, rotated regularly. And all through the winter last year this truck wouldn't squawk second. Like I said, I can't explain it, but when I took off my ram air, the truck seemed to get faster. I was waiting for the processor to even out from the change, but so far it's still the same.
