Lights dimming

I replaced my alternator recently due to a noisy bearing. Charging on the old one was working great. Now when sitting at a stop light with my foot on the brake, the lights will dim and the voltage gauge will fluctuate. This never happened until I installed this rebuilt alternator. It seems obvious to me that the alternator has a problem. Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any input? Thanks

At night when I have my lights on, the dash lights will dim and the voltage gauge will go down to the N in normal when I am stoped but when I hit the gas and start going the dash lights lighten up and the voltage gauge goes up. When The lights are off during the day the voltage gauge stays about the same. It has done that since I got it last year and I have 108,000 miles on it now.
