less nascar on speed channel

It really depends on what they put on in place of it. If its damn boat shows or infomercials, i'd definitely choose nascar.

If its formula 1, rally, or even motorcycle racing, then they need to put that on.

You know what they need?? I don't know how long some of you have watched speed vision, but they used to show Semi roadcourse races... Diesel powered semi's on a road course in Europe..They stopped showing them, but they were the funnest thing to watch..

BTW: Formula One kicks a-ss.. I would highly suggest coming to Indy(been there for the past two years) it's a blast and an amazing sight... Now I just got to get my dad to a NHRA event and see a car going 330MPH..

Didn't Fox buy Speedvision? If so, Fox is heavily invested in NASCAR coverage, so the future doesn't look too bright for other forms of racing. I'm a NASCAR fan, but I'm also a fan of ALMS, Grand Am, CART, and vintage/historical sportscar racing. I also thought the Euro truck racing was a riot. I know they are going to show flag to flag coverage of the 12 Hours of Sebring in a couple of weeks, so they haven't totally given up on sports car racing. Hopefully, they won't forget the fans who made the channel so popular.

as soon as F-1 starts up again, a lot of the weekends will be devoted to that. Personally, the only show they need on about NASCAR is "Inside Winston Cup", it's the best entertainment on T.V. although NASCAR tech is pretty good too.

Was just on the other night.

I also agree that once F-1 and the various bike road racing series (AMA, World Superbike, and GP) start up again there will be more of that. This year's Daytona 200 (Live on March 10th) and support races will have more coverage than in year's past.

nascar owns the speed channel

I happen to be a huge nascar fan..and i love the new format that the channel has..i'm sorry for those of you that dont care for it as much...but if you give it a chance its great...try going to a race if you can...its the largest crowd you will ever see...and thats my $.o2

:tu: DITTO!

As a reminder, Formula 1 qualifying for the Aussie GP is live tonight (Friday) at 9 p.m. EST on SPEED(vision), and the race is tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Ratings will make more noise than in internet petition. ;)

Did my part,

I'd like to see some coverage of nostalgia drags, pure stock musclecar drags, sportsman classes, more world rally and more Aussie V8 Supercar series.

Yeah those Semi races are usually shown on "Motorsport Mundial" thats a pretty good show. I really hope the new channel keeps all of those shows they had :(
I know NASCAR has its legions of fans, but it also already has network coverage, so Speed Channel should lay off. I cannot stand watching cars turn left for 2 hours...its just horrible. I went to a NASCAR race at KCIR with my friend....its boring...."WHOA THERE THEY GO AGAIN"....I could just put a lawn chair next to the interstate and it would be pretty much the same thing except they would actually be STOCK cars, and I wouldnt have so many sponsor logos shoved in my face.
Ive also had CART seats at the entrance to turn 6 at Mid-Ohio. NOW That was sweet!! You swear they are going to fly off the track to thier gory deaths but they manage to slow down from 190mph to 40mph in less than 100ft and make a "RIGHT" turn then accelerate quicker than anything this side of a Top-fuel dragster.
This is all just my oppinion, but if CART or F1 had the same marketing skills that NASCAR has, road racing would be more popular. Motorsports purpose is to push the limits of what an automobile or motorcycle (what have you) can physically do. All the while testing what the physical limits of a driver can do. And I dont see how NASCAR is doing this. Tube frames, carburated small block engines from the 60's, almost all oval track schedules, restrictor plates, aerodynamic devices to slow the cars down. They arent pushing any engineering boundaries here.

Was that turn 1 crazy or what! bet there were some words between a couple of those teams afterwards. How about that pass on Montoya by Schumacher? wow! The first half of the race was pretty awesome.

They seem to be keeping the road racing and rally racing on the schedule, which makes me happy. But with all the NASCAR and program length advertising they have on there now it's not very watchable anymore without a Tivo or some other type of PVR.

YES!! that pass was incredible. You could see Schumacher setting it up in the previous laps. Its gonna be pretty interesting to see Ferrari's 2002 chassis. They are gonna need more HP if they are going to compete with Williams's BMW engine on the longer tracks. Im just glad to see some of the under dogs score some much needed points. Jaguar/Cosworth looks to have another not so good year.

The win was pretty amazing when you realize that schumacher was wh00ping up with last year's car, and down on power to boot.

You gotta give the guy props. he drove through that pileup like it wasn't even there. Just incredible. The guy must have an angel on his shoulder or something.

Aussie GP

WHAT A START!!! major pucker factor.

Schumacher had a great drive. Top notch.

Montoya is awesome! One to watch!!

Raikkonen did VERY well in b-slapping Mr. Run-off Couthard's performance!

Villeneuve's performance was pitiful. :(

Minardi did very well... Mark Webber had a GREAT debut race!!!

With all due respect to Ford, Jaguar SUCKS!!! Unless you call dicing with Arrows fun. I'll pass, literally... hehe

Speaking of pitiful, what was up with Jarno Trulli? He was not competitive with the other cars at the front and should have just gotten out of the way. It would have been better than losing his cool and spinning into the wall.

I think Coulthard was having tranny problems......alot of guys were having shifting problems due to the new automatic shifting electronics.....and just to add to the discussion....Ralf was robbed!! Barrichello blocked twice then braked early going into turn one leaving the much faster Ralf with no where to go. That would have been the only two cars involved except one of the Saubers went careening into everyone from behind. If you see the replay youll see it coming in completly sideways plowing into everyone

Hey!! we should have an F1 thread on mondays following the race:)
