Do our Lightnings have knock sensors? If they don't Ford really screwed up on that one. I was reading an old issue of MM&FF on octane/boost relationship and it mentioned that the 4 valve had one and the test motor was a 5.4 Whipple charged motor (Excursion or Expedition) and it also had one.
If the Lightning has one aftermarket chips are odviosly somehow bypassing it or keeping it from working correctly. It seems that it would be quite involved to install one to work with the computer correctly but would be worth it. I think anyone that had lost an engine due to detonation would have gladly gave up 8-15 HP over loosing their motor.
Attention tuners, please chime in with your knowlege and let us know the scoop. Might be the best item to add to your catalog if you want to keep those pulley sales up.
