I used to have one. What does "worth the money" mean to you?

If you want the ultimate power, the KB probably isn't for you. If you want the ultimate street blower, it probably is. There are pluses and minuses to ALL the superchargers.

Well, there's alot of ways to get 12's, but like Jeff said there's ups and downs of every blower. As far as a street blower, yes, if you have the traction. You're truck will run with about anything from stoplight to stoplight.. All that 12 psi will be there at 2000RPM.. Yes it will get you to the 12's if tuned right, no problem.. Look at the Gen 2's, they're doing 12's on a smaller blower AND a smaller motor.

#1 thing is going to be traction, it'll be really hard to come by at WOT in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on the street.

Buy it. I have the smaller K/B and think it's the best, it' easey to install and sits on top of the intake were the blower belongs. That should get some responces.Later Alex

I couldnt imagine all that boost off idle like that. I have a hard enough keeping my tires hooked with an ole cheapy centrifucal.

I went 12.60s at 108 with the Blowzilla - truck also had ported heads, cam, and other goo-gaws. Mine had a problem with it so there was more in the combo if I had known it.

But, frankly, I got tired of seeing the butt-end of Vortech trucks on the track at the FFW events (Mr Crowder, you listening?) and sold it and bought an S-trim.

It's a decent blower, quiet off boost, looks good, easier on the motor than the others, harder than a Powerdyne but easer than a S-trim to install. It'll make more power than the Powerdyne but not as much as an S-trim or Novi. But around town it just feels great. That part throttle, low RPM torque is downright addictive.

Later!

jeff and curt have it about right...

first off, traction is a MAJOR issue. to put it in a nutshell, if i pull up to the line and floor it, the truck wont even come off the line until halfway thru second gear. she'll spin completley thru first, shift to second, and be dam near shifting into third before moving off the line...makes for great smoke shows though :)

install is/was a breeze. basically, pull off the upper, and replace with the K/B unit. biggest problem (as with most blowers) is vacuum leaks after initial install, but you wont know they are there until after first start up. makes the truck do weird stuff; idles bad, blows black smoke (oh wait, that was from having the FMU lines reversed :b) but, pretty simple stuff to sort out. side note: it does help to have someones ear to bend to help out in this area...(thanks Jeff :tu: )

-----why did i pick the Kenne Bell?

#1- im a cheap bastard, and got a really good deal on this thing..right at 2K for the blower, all the pullies, FMU, 2 chips, 36# injectors, spare belts, boost guage, fuel psi guage, pillar pod, boost-a-pump, boost-a-spark, and a few other things i probably cant remember...whooo hooo!

#2- i wanted to be a little different. (no offense to the centrifugal crowd ;)) actually, i was in the process of a twin turbo setup, but i fell into this and have put the t/t on the back burner until after i get the hang of forced induction. anyways, there arent that many people running K/B, much less the Blowzilla model. the guys that are, and have figured em out, all seem to be well into the 12's or just a smidge away.

#3- SILENCE!!! this thing is totally quiet. talk about stealth technology...its soooo much fun to rag on cars, and them not have a clue why they just got dusted :D

#4- im not a track hound, ive only been on a track a handful of times. this is more my street toy than anything else. as mentioned by prior individuals, for this sort of application, the Kenne Bell is a dam good choice. the low-end torque is unbelievable, and i havent even tuned this thing out yet

#5- resale, when i do decide that the t/t setup needs to come into play, it shouldnt be a hard sell to an eager young L driver

#6- upgradeability, i got 3 pullies with my kit, an 8, a 12, and a 15...i can only imagine what the 15# pulley would do to the afore mentioned smoke show

#7- no need to rev it to the moon to get the power to the ground. i dont know about y'all, but i actually felt a little guilty the few times i have banged the rev limiter when i was running nitrous. lets see, full boost st 2000 RPM...need i say more?

-----for all its positives, there are 2 major downfalls...

#1-lack of intercooling. although there are some ways around this, a good intercooler setup would do wonders for Kenne Bell fanatics nationwide :p

#2- customer support is alsmost non-existent. especially, if you dont buy it directly from Jim Bell...go ahead, ask me how i know

-----all in all, for a street toy, this thing flat out rocks. however, if youre gonna be spending a good amount of time on the track, then dont. in that case, the big power of a good centrifugal is where its at. otherwise, you cant go wrong with a Kenne Bell.

Yeah what mudd said,I like the whistle that the blower makes. There tech support kind of sucks but the product kicks a$$.Tuning just depends on your other mod's.This week my AFR's will be ariving this week can't do the install. Later Alex

Cool street blower but I have heard a lot of the mustang guys complain about the support (already mentioned) but also that if it breaks your paying the bill even if it's Mr. Bell's fault.

well, theres a vote for the Vortech from Mike, but i disagree...

...if your still wondering, pick up the latest issue of MM&FF, theres LOT of neat info on the different types of superchargers, and how a centrifugal is not necessarily the do-all, end-all for every particlar application.

they also get into the two types of positive displacement blowers (yes, two kinds).

theres really good stuff in there this month :)

I like my Kenne-Bell. I drive mostly on the street and most people think that it came from the factory with the blower since it looks almost factory! I took my truck out today, since it was a nice day and my winter truck broke, and gave a friend a ride who hadn't seen the truck before. He almost stained his pants when I kicked it sideways going around a corner WHEN I HIT SECOND GEAR! It was awesome, and the truck was easy to control. One side note is that I have my winter rims on which are a tall, narrow tire. - Brian
