Kart Racing

has anyone else been? i went last night for the first time and had a blast! your ass is a few inches off the ground and your flying through the twisties at close to 30mph! i was a little too amped during the first race(i raced twice) and was black flagged for driving like a madman. but hey, rubbin is racin, right?
i ended up with the 4th fastest lap time and was pretty happy with that. i had at least 60 lbs on anyone else and the number one guy had times like a seasoned vet. i didn't think a 240lb rider on an 8hp kart could contend. anyway, if anyone was thinking of ever doing it, i highly recommend it.

If ya get a chance to do a shifter kart school, DO IT

125cc, 6 speed sequential gear box, monster brakes (for the weight anyway).

Power to weight ratio is very close to that of an Indy Car  :D

BIG FUN!!!!

That super kart sounds like a death trap... One wrong move at 175....Although I guess the Super Bike guys are doin the same thing... I've driven and worked on a 100cc Yamaha kart...Fun stuff..

Karts are a blast.

I got spousal approval to build a high-banked dirt (clay) oval out on the back part of our property. :D Still have a sprint kart (5hp Briggs modified) from my high-school circle track days, so it should be a blast. Also picked up a shifter kart rolling chassis the other summer that I will outfit with a Honda 4-stroke. Hope to eventually use it for the "training grounds" for my son, if he wants to do some circle-trackin'. I can't imagine any young boy that would not want to run karts in circles for afternoons at a time... :)

Later,

Maxboxa are you referring to Speedring in Santa Clara? My friends had alot of fun there too. I have to check it out sometime.

Hell Yeah!

I do it here once in a while. Short track with lots of turns. Idea is not to let off even for a second. Most do, and they're toast if I'm behind em.:D I can usually start in the back and end up in 1st or 2nd. Most fun you can have with your clothes on. Well, in the top 3 anyway.

Yeah, isn't that fun! On the concession karts I like to start in the last kart and it is my goal to pass everyone before the end of the first lap! :D :D

Of course, tinkering with race karts for a few years might help a little bit.. hehe...
