Just installed Pro-M mass air having problems

lightningspeed

Third Strike
Installed a used mass air system on my truck tonight and am having some problems. I installed 30lb injectors, mass air, and a chip... Problem #1 The truck makes no power... time for a fuel pump? what kind? problem #2 The plug for the oxygen sensor didn't fit so we had to take a piece off to make it fit... should I need some other oxygen sensor? problem #3 I have a check engine light on now... any info will help... Thanks

Don't sweat the fuel pump..you have the stock pump plus the in line pump that came with the vortech kit. That's more than enough.

Check your timing( set yours to 10*) and make sure that the chip is plugged into the computer correctly. The chip should change the timing settings..that is a good way to check that it is hooked up correctly.

Also... If the chip ws burned for a truck without a blower..DO NOT run it on your truck because the timing will be too high.

I'm assuming that the Mass air meter was calibrated for the new 30lb injectors correct? If the truck is running smoothly, but feels low on power you may want to reburn that chip to fit your trucks combo on a dyno.

Finally..You might want to E mail the guy you bought the stuff from and ask him how he hooked it up on his truck.

Good luck..try to get it running by Friday for LACR:p

Dave The chip is burned for a lightning with a vortech, mass air, and the 30lb injectors... same as what I have on my truck... are you sure the stock fuel pumps are enough? The fuel pump that came with the vortech only comes on under boost.
Also this has messed up my tranny... The truck is stuck in like third gear. I press the little O/D button and nothing happens. I think I want to get the chip reburned on a dyno.

before you burn anything do the smart thing and get the comp scanned to see whats causing the check engine light. that could be the whole problem and you could waste time and money on burning a chip to no avail. whenever the lights are on they should be the first priority, they dont come on if nothing is wrong. take it from a full time technician when theres a CELO its a god sent because the truck is telling you whats wrong, no guess work to find the problem

Do you know what computer catch code the chip is for ?

What is the catch code for your mass air computer ?

Does the fuel pump run all the time when you turn the key on ?

Also check your wiring harness connections at both computers.

I called up the company today to see what they thought and they told me a few things to do. The told me to umplug the BAP sensor and plug it off.. so I did... They also told me that I needed to run the little line that comes out of the oil filler into the tube between the blower and the mass air meter and my problems should be fixed. I did what they told me and the truck still will not shift. I guess im gonna have to go spend some money to have someone look at it :( Anyone have anymore ideas before I bring it in?

The fact that the tranny isn't shifting tells me that the stock computer isn't getting the correct signals. If you completely unhook the wiring harness from the tranny that's what it does. So, it's not the chip.

You do have the splitter harness hooked up correctly to both the stock and the Pro-M computer, right?

Ray, the catch code on my old Pro-M was C3W1.

Yep, that's what I think too bad/improper connections. That's the only thing that would all of a sudden affect the shifting.

What about the chip ? What PCM is that for ?

Well good news! I took the chip out of the trucks stock computer and put it in the new mustang computer... ooops. Thanks for all the help. I already killed a VR4 while I was test driving the new mass air. All is well again.
