On a truck with a chip, 4lb pulley, shift kit, is a street /strip converter a worthwhile investment or will I not see any bang for my bucks. I'm a couple weeks away from a good bonus and want to spend it on the best things for my 01 L.
I live in MD. and have a concern about emissions testing. How would LTs and hi flow cats affect testing? BTW, those are planned mods. Not done yet. I had already budgeted for your exhaust (the loud version) but not headers. LTs and exhaust will take up too much of my bonus. I have only 2.2-2.5k to work with. Maybe a little more. I have to stretch it the best I can. I usually buy computer stuff but not this year. I have a new hole to pour money into.
You might want to check the Emission Laws over across the bridge there. Here in Good Ole' Boy St. Mary's We don't have no stinking Emissions Laws" Just a thought.

Get the Long Tube Headers and the Converter. I have the JDM Converter and I don't think it takes anything away from every day driveability. Also, sugest going to the Bigger Tranny Pan while installing the converter.
What benefit is the bigger pan. Dr. plug is no big deal. Do I need the additional capacity? Even with a converter this will still be a daily driver and a periodic racer. A converter is 800-1000 and the LT and exhaust are almost 2K. Sorry to say, I can't do it all or trust me it would already be done, and money would be no object. But I'm not rich. I'm lucky I can do this so I have to do it right. I want to make the most of the truck's power by getting it to the ground. I know I can get lot's more engine HP but then we're looking at picking up pieces. So I think I'll try mild hp increase and good traction and trans. Does that make sense or am I off base totally?
I've only changed trans fluid and filter a couple times myself and didn't have any real mess to speak of and didn't find it difficult at all. I really expected to drown in trans fluid. My Bro in law works at a dealership and he'll do it for me too cheap. I can see where it might be a convenience item but I can get along without that. I don't have too many opportunities to do this so I have to make the best of it. Thanks tho'.
No. I'm just suggessting that you check the local emissions laws and see if it is necessary for emmissions testing. Because we don't have it over here.:tu: That's all.
Good Luck To Ya.

If you are planning a lot of mods, the first thing you should do IMO is get a good set of rods....that way you won't have to worry about spending next year's bonus on a new engine!
