IM READY IM READY!!!!!! i think we need to charge dan according to how fast he goes on the track so if a 12.80 should be worth $15 to get in 12.60 is gonna cost u 10 more bucks every tenth less than 12.80 is 5 bucks per tenth :)

i cant wait i know of several people going from down here as wel to watch the big race.

Also if anyone is interested in selling their lightning i know of someone that wants one real bad, he wants a silver or white 2000 or 2001. bring it to the track and he will be there.

New info............

Ed(owner of SDR) emailed me back today and said the Corvettes plan to be there--alright!

He also said the track mgr. was 'dragging' the surface of the track to 'wake' it up--whatever that means? Point is, we'll be ready and so will SDR--pray it doesn't rain.

If you want to use the 'net ' to check on the weather, the track's zip code is 31076.

What local vette club, do you know if they have a web site that they visit (similar to the nloc)? If you do please share it, maybe we could do a little recon. LOL.

chris: www.corvetteclubcentralga.org is their site but there's very little info--just pics and meetings, etc. They have not put down the 26th for SDR??? but they told the owner some were coming.

New to 1/4 mile racin' and SDR info......

This is info I posted a long time ago and it's not on the new site so I'm going to go over it again so, hopefully, everyone will have a safe and good time at the track.

There is a Texaco and a Shell at the 149 exit(Byron). You will need about 2 gals to get to the track from Byron. After exiting, get in the left lane if you want either of these two gasses(?) Go back over I-75--Texaco is on your right and Shell is on the left. When you're ready to leave--turn to go West--back over I-75. You are now on H'wy 49--go about 9 or 10 miles--look for a small golf course on your right and then look for the 'Jct 49' h'wy sign and bear off to the right--3 miles or so to H'wy 96 West--turn right and it's 9 miles to Reynolds. H'wy 96 'dog-legs' thru Reynolds--stay on 96--headed West for about a mile out of Reynolds and you will see the SDR sign on your left.

Pay($20 to race, $5 to watch) and move ahead 40 or 50'--turn to the left to tech(you will get a number on your left window) and weigh-in(race gas-100 unleaded-is available just beyond the scale-$4.25/gal.) or turn to the right and head for the timeing 'tower'. We will be parking to the right of the tower--just behind the 8 staging lanes. Hopefully, we can get everybody in line so pics can be taken.

Bring a helmet --I'm bringing two. You must have/borrow a helmet if you run below 14.000 secs. Bring a pen(for tech sheet and to write notes on your time slips--and just in case someone wants your autograph;) ! Bring an air gauge--there is compressed air near the staging lanes(#1).

If you've never run the 1/4, do yourself a favor and only go at 75-80% on your first pass and watch a few trucks make their run first. Street vehicles start out lineing up in lanes 1 and 2--if they get filled in, then the announcer will open 3 and 4 for us too. As you get ready to turn left to line up behind the starting point, roll both windows up. If you have on street tires, go around the 'water box' and when the vehicles ahead of you have left the starting line , then you can do a short clean-off burn-out. Roll up until the pre-stage(upper two) lights come on--wait for your competition to pre-stage--then roll 9 inches further to turn on the 'stage' lights--stop -as soon as the other guy stages, the starter will start the count-down lights.. There are 3--GO on the third light--don't wait for the green light--you'll be tardy. Keep it straight--if your rear end starts to come around, don't brake--just come off the gas--let it grab again and you can straighten it out with the gas.

After you pass thru the 1/4 mile trap--start looking for the turn-offs. There are three--all three are on your left. You won't be able to use #1 so look for #2.....this is very important--don't turn around on the track--EVER --if you miss #2, keep on going--#3 is at the very end--use it. Come back on the return road--stop at the timing shed and you will be handed your time slip. Come on back to the start and show off your new best time!

I know I haven't posted everything but I hope this helps you 'new' guys. Remember, you race at your own risk--I'm not responsible.

What a day!

I believe this was the largest gathering of Lightnings that the state of Georgia has had todate. Air temps were in the high 60s and it was sunny. I don't know the final tally, but there probably was 20+ beautiful Gen 1s and Gen2s at SDR for its reopening. Karen, svtken's S/O(and believe me, she is significant-thank you Karen) took down names and trucks so she will have the numbers here soon.

Just wish those that had planned to come(CC and DL:cool: ) could have been there too. It was crowded! Waaay too many ricers--sorry guys. It took some Ls an hour just to get thru tech. I was lucky and got there early so I got in 5 passes and left at 4:45pm. I think everybody else stayed until......?

I won't try to name everybody--I'm sure they will post when they get home. I was fortunate enough to get a new best of 12.697@107.02 with a 60' of 1.798 and a 1/8th of 8.108@85.64.

I really enjoyed meeting so many of our Lightning bretheren(and one sisteren:D ). Lot's of good 'talkin' and racin'(well, not enough 'racin'). Hope everyone gets home safely.
