intercooler swap question???

I am taking my 99 in for the intercooler recall tonight. how long should it take, ive herd a couple of you guys talk about it before.
it looks that i have just begun to loose coolant from the resevior. about a 1/2 inch has gone down over the past month. how bad can this hurt the engine. plus the back window leaks right behind the drivers seat, has any one else had this problem.

Hey MXer its Paulie here in NY. My intercooler was done in one day but it could take two depending on the mech. and if they start right away. As for your second question my intercooler was leaking so bad it fouled my o2 sen. , my plugs were toast , 3 coil packs and a cat. conv. I had 20000 miles on mine and the intercooler was leaking for quite a while before I noticed (dumb ***) . My truck has been running a little rough so I took a trip to JDM and he felt a slight roughness to the engine around 1700 rpm's so we did a leak down on the motor and found one of the cyclinders down 10 % from the rest . So here I am 6 wks later waiting to get it back with the new motor . I'll have it back next week when Jim gets back . Jim thinks I most likely hydro'd the motor from the leak which in turn bent the rod ever so slight but enough. Sorry about the long post but wanted to share . P.S it was warrantied. Paul

I had mine done before it was a recall and it took them all of 2.9 hours and it was ready for me to take home. Hope this helps.

The actual removal of old/installation of new shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, but expect it to be at the dealer for one day. I did it last week, dropped it off at 8:00am, picked it up after work at 5:00pm.

Oh and they also did the wiper recall...

The dealer that did mine had only one guy that had been doing most of the intercooler recalls in the Houston area. He has it down to 30min.

you are not the only one who is still in high school there are a couple of other guys who are in high school... i personally am in college... but it should only take about 3-4 hrs do get the intercooler install done...

Four of us went in to Tommy Vaugh here in Houston at 9:00 am on a Saturday morning and he had us all done by noon. (one guy did em all)

i dropped mine off in the morning,i took advantage of the free loaner they gave me a brand new Explorer had to remove the plastic on the seats and everything,probly a good thing for them because that is one sweet truck really drives great, so in the summer sometime im going to trade in the pathfinder for one of these,i also received a full tank of gas,are we supposed to get a free loaner everytime we go in for service or was that just a recall bonus??does anyone own an Explorer(i mean the 2002 larger model with IRS??) if so how do you like it any problems??

That was an unexpected bonus. Thank your dealer. The free loaners are for the 2001 and up models. Can't remember if the recall includes one.

the first one i replaced at work took me 1.5 hours from start to finish, but the truck was probably at the dealer for several hours before i actually started on it. it really aint a bad job to do, just took a little time to get to. you could schedule it as a waiter, but you'll definitely not get it done in a hurry, cause us mechanics can't stand waiters for jobs such as this & plus, you don't want a tech rushing himself on such an awesome piece of machinery!

i believe i did do your recall. look on the receipt you got & if 915 is on it before where the work description was done, then i did.
