Insurance

I bought a lightning about a year ago. It was not meant to be a daily driver so I have classic car insurance. Recently my work vehicle is broke down and I had to use the truck. I'm actually starting to enjoy driving it daily.
My question is, who are you guys using that can fully cover the value of the truck if it was in an accident and be daily driven. I don't want an insurance company paying me 3k for a vehicle that I paid a lot more for.

I just have a declared value policy with Erie, my insurance provider. I didn't like all the restrictions that Hagerty etc had. I have it on both of my trucks.

They'll total a G1 Lightning for ~$500 in damage.

I've looked into specialty insurance for mine, but it is not daily driven. The premiums were not realistic for me; something like $3k/year for a vehicle I drive maybe 500 miles per year on a really high year.

It's getting a lot easier to justify a higher payout on older trucks these days. About a year ago I got rear ended in my daily driver F-150. It's a 1990 with 540k+ miles on it and it looks like it. They paid me $1800 in damages no questions asked. On a Lightning where you can look at auction sales and pretty easily determine a value for a truck it shouldn't be that difficult to get decent value out of one in good condition. You may have to lawyer up to do it, but that's cheaper than the specialty insurance I found.

Have you tried going through an agent? I know it might sound counterintuitive, but I use a good friend here in Texas and I have Hagerty on both trucks. $1100.00 a year with declared value on both. I added on a few things that increased the price a bit, but that covered gaps in my homeowners policy.

$1100 for both? I'm at $800 on red one no declared value! liability only! Going to shop more it was supposed to be full coverage and they did not do it quote changed after I did it and I didn't catch it till done paid it. Is he big name agency or what?

Yes sir, $40K and $22K agreed value for both through Hagerty $1123.00/yr

How bad do they limit you driving it? Garage? I have open carport so don't think they liked that.

I did tell them that the trucks are in a heated/cooled garage with security system and smoke detectors and that they are not my primary vehicle. I am sure that affects the price, but I cannot imagine that much.

I have a 56 F100 15K and 93L 20K with Hagerty for 425 a year.

With 'Cherished Salvage Coverage'
If you don't have that, look into it.

Mines insured with erie with agreed value. That value is 49k

It doesn't cost much either but

It's in policy with
03 cobra and few other items

I have Hagerty. It's $1,700 for the Gen 1, Fox Body, and Terminator. But I live in Las Vegas where insurance is outrageous.
