Installing my Level 10

Black Stallion

AAARRRGGHH!!!!
Tonight I am going to install my level 10:tu: I am going to take pics along the way and include the part #'s for the 4x4 deep pan from Ford, and all the other parts associated with the install. I should have them up by tomorow morning.

 I get four pictures into the install and my camera bettery died.

The fluid was a dark red and smelled burnt. I am the second owner of this L and it only has 69k. This was probably the first that it had been changed.
The kit wasn't hard at all, however I smell like burnt ATF :p

I think that I drained 4 to 4.5 gallons of fluid out of both the tranny and the converter:eek:

I am finishing up right now and should have the pics up sometime this afternoon:tu:

Is it pretty easy to do the converter fluid change? One of these days I need to do mine so I'm definitely interested in you change procedure.

Just did my tranny & conv. service last weekend. It took 14 qts to fill it back up

Adam, to change the fluid in the stock conv. pull the black rubber plug on the bottom of bell housing, rotate engine until drain plug is straight down, remove drain plug w/ 7/16" socket, let drain (about 8qts). Pull the pan and change filter, reinstall drain plug(put some thread sealer ex: teflon tape on drain plug threads), then refill tranny w/ 6 qts. start truck then dump in 6 qts more, while holding brake run through gears a couple times then check level and finish filling:)
