Yes, it will go in to production...

...somehow, i doubt it. Dodge constantly has these hooped-up vehicles that are supposed to go into production, and they are never heard from again. prototypes are just that...prototypes ;)

on the other hand, i could forsee a detuned version that may slide thru. but 500hp, 500tq and 24" wheels??? i seriously doubt it :)

IF they make it and it actually does what it says it will it wont be too bad, maybe well get lucky and it will push SVT into putting a 5 or 6 speed stick in the next lightning. Eather way SVT will just roll out something that spanks it without even trying. Look at the Gen 2's, there aint anything out there right now that can even come close to touching them, and there was nothing out there for them to compete with in 99, so now that theres a challenger it will be interesting to see what they bring out for a Gen 3.

this would definitely force SVT to make some changes to keep the L on top. also, there's no way in hell they're going to get that truck into production for a price competative with the L.

Who cares about price, I just want to see a lightning spanker.:D

The streets will flow with the blood of the non-believers...

Ahhh, yes. Just what I expected. If I was number one I'd try and bring out all the shortcomings of the competition. Especially if it was better than I. Don't worry L guys, this truck will see productin and will be very competitive with the Ls in performance and price. Although I wish they would tone down the 24"s. That's just a little too big.

Whoa now, I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I went to Houston Raceway Park on January 4th. There was a bone stock '01 L that ran 13.4. That very same night I ran 14.0@97.5 all motor with stock heads, cam, and tranny. You're telling me that the Gen IIs are untouchable? Don't get me wrong, they run like a raped ape but to say that nothing can touch them would be erroneous.

ahhhh,

but now you are comparing a modified (albeit, naturally aspirated) truck to an unmodified (although blown) L2...

...apples and oranges, my friend, apples and oranges :)

Sure there are trucks that can touch a lightning, cmyindy has an Indy ram that can hang.

i think the lightning, along with all other light duty f-150's get a 5 speed auto in the next year or two, the 5R100, along with the 3v heads for 03'. Also rumor has it that ford is switching to all aluminum blocks, but i think it suppposed to take several years for that, they're starting with the smaller discplacements and working their way up.

Cool! I shall go down to my Dodge dealer and pick one up now!

if y'all pay attention to the whole of the statement, rather than just one line, i think youll agree he was referring to any new, factory stock (un-tweaked) trucks that will run with a Gen2...not any truck in the world...ie; some of our home-grown supercharged vehicles :)

Should that truck go into production as is, SVT will merely use the GT40 engine in the new Ls. Voila! 500hp and Ford remains on top. Sure, it can happen just as readily as this thread's starting post subject. BTW, nice truck but it shoulda been the old Ram. (better looking)

Like Muddmann said. You ever race against something that ran over half a second faster than you? I did, it looked like a a$$ spanking.
RT4U2NV
And now your gona tell me your RT is all stock running 14 flat right?
One thing I noticed is that truck has a stick in it, at first it sounded like fun but then I got to thinking about it. I have trouble getting my near stock Gen 1 too hook on the street and it wont at all if theres rain, so how hard would it be to get 500lbs to hook on street tires with a stick?

 PVO is gonna make it....thats the goal and direction they have pledged...The SRT4(Neon turbo'd), SRT10 viper, and SRT10 Ram are supposed to be certain...I cant wait///RTD2 is gonna be for sale...12.9's@106 traction and shifting challenged..thats scary...I'm sure SVT will have an answere. Its great there is gonna be a new player:D The new body style kicks ass...6 speed and 24's yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If they make it....... I will buy..........

Sounds like a gauntlet has been thrown down. Ram SRT10 vs L3!! All I can say is the first one to make a 12 sec EXT-CAB truck will get my money. :D

First of all, that is one sweet looking Dodge and I am a Ford guy. Second, I am glad someone has the guts to challenge the Lightning. That was a slam are you listening Chevrolet???? Third it took a freaking 500+ cubic inch engine to challenge the Lightning. What can Dodge not roll along with technology and get their smaller displacement engines to create power? No!!! (i.e 16 second Dakota R/T's with 360 cubic inches) Fourth, if any of you have ever had a full-size pickup with a stick, it stinks!!!! There is just two much inertia there, its not like driving a Miata or something. I think the six-speed manual is dumb,IMHO. Fifth, even if this Dodge is faster than the Lightning, what is the boat anchor V-10 going to do to weight distribution. That thing will be so nose heavy if will be pathetic. Can we say 454 SS all over again. With all that said if that thing actually makes it to production, are there going to be some good war stories and arguments!!!! WOW!! Thanks for posting this RT4U2NV!!! Later Jeremy

Can't wait to run across a new one, with my "gen1" 94 ram v-10. there something sweet about watching an old boxer, punch the crap out of the new gold medal winner. although,,, if it is sold "as advertised" with "nien " (that german for no,right?) changes, i'll probably add one to the stable

Hey guy not to flame but a v10 compared to a huffed moto is fair performance venues(could of done new Hemi) annndddd that v10 is aluminum(all aluminum) on the skid pad they say .92..there is no nose heavy truck there And this 6 speed is slick....this bugga handles..24 inch wheels....Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Guys i think its time to aknowlege that there are other mftr's that can do it right...Dodge has done it before(ie late 50's,early sixties, late 60's and some of the early 70's...Everyone has their nitch..its about time dodge got some hairy balls and went for it....Now its time for SVT to hop up a v10 program(takin a 5.4 up to 500 ponies takes away reliability)...Dodge has done it for the last 10 years(with v10)..Its all good..there will be 2 heavy weights in the ring(where are ya chevy???) :D
