Today I went and bought some 2 chamber flowmasters center inlet - center outlet - and had some 3 inch turndowns put on them, all of this replaced the "no mufflers", straight pipes and 4" chrome tips the original owner had exiting behind the rear tires, with 2 1/4 piping feeding them from the factory exhaust mid-plate. *nasty* It used to sound like a freakin evenrude outboard boat! I guess some people like that, it seems to be all the rage with every pickup truck lately. Glad I'm not a part of that group anymore!

Anyhow, now that there is a complete 2.5 system neatly routed to the flowmasters which are mounted using the factory hangers, I can finally enjoy having a deep rumbling, aggresive sounding under acceleration system, which is preleminary to the installation of a bassanni x-pipe and headers and soon as I order them. Need I mention however, there is alittle drone present even with the delta flow series flowmasters.

Does replacing the factory cat pipe with the offroad x-pipe wake these trucks up, now it seems like the cork is upfront, and although you can hear me coming now, would the removal of the cats increase the sound level upon acceleration, idle etc with the x-pipe or help smooth out the tone and quiet it down some? I can't wait until the headers, shift kit and pulleys go on, then I'll be into a rebuild and some twisted wedges.

it ain't nothing but a farm truck anyhow!

:D

I haven't riden in a L with the delta flows but all I can say is if you think it drones alittle with the deltas you better be glad you didn't get regular two chambers. They will drone you to death with an offroad pipe. I would think the bassini would help a good bit over the regular offroad but don't knock the stock stuff, it flows alright for stock and meeting emissions in the process.

Your best bet with an offroad and flows is to put some tail pipes on. You would be surprised how much that helps.

I appreciate the reply, I'm just a turndown fan, there on the weekend warrior "mustang" on my daily driver 79 4x4 with a 460 that's mild, soon to be 514 roller motor :) and now I have turndowns on the lightning! Heck I'de put them on my girls honda if she'd let me!

nah, anyhow, the stock cat pipe might flow well, but I'm anxiously awaiting the day when I put the offroad x-pipe on it, I have ways around the E-checks, friends in the right places. ;)
