How much space should be between the front bumper and the grill

Most stock lightnings have a LOT. After the body shop put mine together, the gap is much smaller. Looks great, except they put it on SLIGHTLY crooked.

I won't bother measuring mine since i know they )^%#@(*ed it all up.

Whoa!! I know mine is more than an inch. And Im starting to get the bumper sag on the passenger side. There was a Ford Service Bullitin on that correct??

svthaulin pointed out to me today that my bumper is sitting too low. I measured it and it is at about 1.5 in. I guess I will tinker with it this weekend and try to adjust it up a little. Thanks for the input.:tu:

Pulled the bumper off yesterday and adjusted the brackets that support it. I was able to raise the bumper to the 1" spacing mentioned. i also realized that it was sitting off towards the passenger side. So....about 2 hours of tinkering and it looks great. Its amazing how much difference 1/2 inch makes in the way the bumper looks.

On to the next project!:tu:

mine is about an inch. when i got the bumber repainted i had the guy straighten it out. it was involve in an accident b4 i had it so the guy said the brackets are bent. im goin to get the truck repainted in bout a month and a half and im goin to hav him bring it up real close. i dont think it should be to big of a gap between the bumber but i hav noticed that a lot of 1st gens hav that gap. you hav to mess with it a little.

So how does one go about pulling off and adjusting the front bumper brackets? Thanks.

Nathan

There are four bolts holding the bumper on the truck. One goes through the fog light brackets. the other is directly above that one. remove these bolts and have someone help you. The bumper and the spoiler will come right off the front. once you do this there are two brackets that are held on with two large nuts. Loosen these nuts and these brackets will adjust horizontally and vertically. Once you get it apart, it is pretty obvious.
