help with tuning

question......even though i have a superchip in my gen 1, i was told i should not advance my timing, is that true or what? also, the same guy told me not to put a shift kit in my truck b/c the chip does it for me. i think this is b.s. also. if it is, what kindve shift kit should i put in, and how much will it cost?

The chip does add timing that is why you need it at the stock setting when you installed the chip.The chip also changes where your torque converter locks up and how hard your trans can shift.You can install a shift kit if you send the chip to JDM or any one who sells Superchips and they can change how it shifts to go with a shift kit.It would probably shift too hard if you installed a kit without a reburn of the chip.
