If anyone can help me out here, it would be very helpful. I was driving home tonight after a heavy downpour, and my truck died. I was going at like 25 mph and the tach went crazy. It climbed up to 5000 and bounced around, and the truck just died. It now won't start, and if anyone has any ideas as to how I could fix this, It would be HIGHLY appreciated. thanks guys

Where Y'at StopSign, Sounds like the distributor got wet. Try popping the dist. cap to see if its damp under it. If it is you need to dry it out. If its dry you could have a bad plug wire that shorted out when it got wet. Hope this helps ya.

Sounds like inside of the distributor got wet to me too. After drying it out spray in some WD40 inside and that will take care of any small traces of moisture that can come back and do the same thing again.

thanks guys

went up to where I parked last night, and it was dry and ran fine. I popped the cap, and it wasn't wet, but I think that's what it was. Will wd40 stop that from happening again? thanks

It may never happen again, it probably was just the right conditions for moisture to collect inside. WD40 will be a big factor in that situation for it not to happen again, assuming that was your problem, which it sounds like it was. It will stop a small amount of moisture from being slung around inside and multiplying causing havoc. It is an old trick that works good. Check the top of your distributor cap to see if it has a hole with a small cap over it. This lets air to circulate inside to prevent moisture buildup. If your cap doesn't have the smaller cap get a distributor cap that has one and you'll be better off. If your cap has the smaller cap on top spray the WD40 inside and it may never happen again, unless you run into a big puddle of water and splash all over the engine. In that case do the WD40 trick after drying it out the best you can.

loose terminal

This has happened to me on my 93 L and I found that one of the battery terminals was loose so check that also.

All good posabilitys but if any moisture occures in dist cap you must have a hairline crack in cap.Replace with MSD cap and rotor.Just my 2 centsLater Dale Red 95#2075 of #2280 NLOC#687 BOLT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
