Bought a small trailer and plugged up pigtial brakelights&turn signals work.That night when I pulled on lights heard a pop under dash no trailer lights or back of truck or dash lights only headlights also no back parking lights.Put in new fuse 15 amp same result.Put in 20 amp same result.Put in another/unplugged trailer and everything was good.Only other thing I noticed was during the day when I turned on turn signal they blinked twice as fast it seemed.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks Dale Red 95 #2075 of #2280 NLOC#687 BOLT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lights flashing fast is because you have a turn light out on your truck.

The fuse is because the brown ( tail light ) wire is going to ground somewhere. If the tail lights mount with 2 studs, thats where it may be. The wires like to come out of the grove in the back of the tail light when its mounted.

If its not that, you will have to follow that brown wire to find the bad spot.

I agree, burned out bulb. Dont replace fuses with larger fuses. You will create a problem much worse that no trailer lights.

Thanks for ideas.I checked turn signals & parking lights this morning and they both work,blinkers are working like normal.What brown wire are you talking about?The one on the truck or on the trailer.I'm thinking on the trailer since the truck is back to normal.Thanks guys for all or anymore ideas. Alright here's your problem.

1) Your blinker blinks fast because you need a Heavy Duty turn signal flasher. The stock one isn't heavy enough and is taking too much of a load with the trailer. It's not from a burnt out light though that can cause similar symptoms. The flasher is only a buck or two at your autoparts store.

2) You need to redo the ground wire on you trailer wiring. It's not grounded properly and you need to find/make a new location in which to attch the ground wire on the trailer. I've run into that problem while wiring up trailers. Bad ground connection. Also go thru and check out all the wiring like was mentioned before just to make sure everything checks out.

Here's the common Flat 4 trailer plug in wiring scheme:

Flat 4 wiring code
-----------------
white= ground
yellow= left turn/brake light
green= right turn/brake light
brown= tail

The yellow hooks to the left taillight's red wire. The green hooks to the right taillight's red wire.

I agree with MO351. I had a similar problem with my 90 Bronco II - my brand new trailer had a short. Found out that the ground wire in the trailer was pinched and creating a problem. I fixed it and at the same time, installed a heavy duty flasher. No more problems.

Thanks for all ideas I'm sure I can fix it now its just too cold.Its a cold front moving through Ga.I'll try and fix fri/sat.Thanks to all Dale Red 95 #2075 of #2280 NLOC#687 BOLT ON!!!!!!!!!!!
