This questions mostly for HotRod, or anyone else that might know. I know you told me before Rod, but whats the number for the felpro head gasket you use. Is it 9333? I'm putting the GT40s back on temporarily and figured I'd get the ones you mentioned this time since they're cheaper and just as good.

hey steve, i was told to get the 1011-2 also...i have happened into a situation where i am in immediate need of a set (check my post under GJLS's results from FMU not working) so a little clarification would be awful nice :)

After my experiences, I only use the 1011 gaskets. I prefer the steel fire ring, too, even with aluminum heads.

I am using Fel-Pro 9333 PT1's on my Lightning with aluminum heads. These head gaskets are originally for 1985 5.0 HO Mustang. My friend Speedy told me about these head gaskets and I have not used anything else since. They have been tested on 800 hp engines by Ken Dutweiler. I have used them on my 351 N20 set up with my N20 system set at the 200 hp level and I am currently using them on my 410 n/a combo. No cooling or sealing problems at all. I have a friend who used them on his Vortec powered 351 in his Lightning with about 12 lbs of boost with no problems either. He had a misfortunate rod bolt/rod failure resulting in a damaged engine but his mighty Fel-Pro 9333 PT1's never failed!! These head gaskets are awesome and are only about $18 a piece. I like them very much and will never O-ring my heads or block because of my confidence in these headgaskets. The best feature of all I like about them is a feature by buddy Hotrod told me. "Standard headgaskets act as your fuse should things go crazy" No forged piston, forged rod, or O-ringed set up is going to withstand detonation for long. Its all in the "tune". And thats where its at.
Thank you,Edward Huerta/Struckby

the 9333 PT1 and the 8548 PT2 are the same gasket

9333 is for 85-93 302 and 8548 is for 94-95

no real difference between the two besides that

good info guys :)

heres my dilema...

as StruckBy has noted, id like to keep the gasket as a "fuse". i really dont wanna hafta replace a piston or rod, much less both. but on the same hand, i dont wanna be having to tear her all down "every once in a while" because of a sneaky detonation problem. im sensing here that the foil types are quite popular, but i think im leaning to the 1011's...hmmmmm

Thanks for the all the great info guys, I currently have the 1011s with TFS heads and have had no head gasket problems. Except I think I have a broken valve guide now, so I'm gonna put the GT40s back on while I get the TFS heads checked and fixed. I didn't want to pay alot for head gaskets that wouldn't be used for more than a few months. I guess now I can buy the cheaper one and still have just as good a head gasket.
