Guess what the body shop did?

Ever since i got my truck back from the body shop, i've noticed my washer fluid squirters don't squirt.

No big deal, i added some water, they still didn't work.

When i push the button, the relay clicks.

When the relay clicks the pump motor runs.

Hrmmmmmmmmmm.

Another weird thing is that sometimes coolant would seep out around my radiator cap. So i got a new cap the other day.

Well as my friend and i were trying to figure out why the squirters don't work, my friend says "hey look at this". I looked in the wiper fluid tank, and there's GREEN COOLANT IN IT!!!!!

Sure enough these boneheads connected the wiper fluid tank to the radiator. Just to be sure, we popped the radiator cap, and the coolant, now pressurized from me pushing the button, spurts out everywhere.

Just to be sure, i push the squirter button. Coolant gushes out of the radiator neck.

So guys, what should i tell the body shop? Should i just throw a brick through their window or what? I'm lucky they didn't hook it up so that i shoot coolant all over my windshield. They are definitely buying me a new fluid box. What else should i hit them up for?

Thats too funny! I once had a new radiator installed in an acura I used to own. They didnt put half the car back together. Bolts and nuts missing. Valance hanging from the bottom of the car. It took 5 trips back to get the car put back right and also had to replace the new radiator on one of those trips. I sold that car shortly after that experience.

I'm sure POWERSTROKE will chime in here..In my opinion, there's no GOOD body shop experience.. They cut corners to save money...Only good body shop is the one on the assembly line.

TWO GUYS PLUMBING

I would try to get the service writer, body shop tech and the manager together, show them what was done, and let them stand in their own shame and see what they can possibly say as they try to save their new reputation for being idiots....then make them pay for a coolant flush....at a different shop!

I've actually had a good experience with my body shop. When I got in my accident last may, they had my truck back together in about three weeks, the used all new parts, and did a first rate job, plus they have a one year paint/workmanship warranty. Also, they service guy called me just about every day to update me on their progress, and when i had time, he would take me back and show me how far they were, I even got to see it being prepped for painting. So if anyone is in the Mpls./St. Paul area, Raymond Autobody on peirce butler rte. is the place to go. My L was the first one they did, but they have since worked on at least on other.

Well, Like Curt said... I had to relay about 25 yrs worth of body shop horror tails. EVERY time I take a vehicle to one, they either (1) screw something else up (2) fix it half-a$$ (3) don't tell You they painted the vehicle with Water Colors so don't leave the car out in the rain NOTHING a Body shop can put on Your vehicle will hold up like the factory E-Coat paint. NOTHING The body is dipped in the primer and the body is charged to attract the paint. Then the color coat is sprayed on again with electro-static charges. And then the whole rest of the vehicle is built around & inside. The paint curing ovens get hot enough to melt all the plastic & rubber in Your trucks. I had to have my PSD in the shop last summer TWICE to basically get a new grill installed. The moron at the shop didn't bolt the new one to the center support because the center support was broken out, and sitting on My shop floor in pieces. It wasn't until Curt & I were comparing trucks We discovered how bad they screwed up. And they damaged 2 of the 4 wheel well lip moldings. (Your L's don't have them) Plus He twisted 4 fender liner screws off and didn't replace them. The big ones right behind the front bumber! Real poor job. I still find loose screws & missing stuff every now & then. And this was "The Best Shop" in a town of almost a million people?

Yeah to elaborate alittle on the Water Color thing my dad said..

We bought a new Mustang GT new in 88... 1 of 800 made in 88 with T-Tops, even rarer when you look at some of the other options(3.08's).. Well mom slid down a glare ice hill after dropping me off at day-car and took out a tree with the passenger side of the car(right behind the pass. door)... They cut out the rear quarter panel and soldered/welded in a new one, put new quarter glass in(lotsa $$$ for alittle piece of glass).. The workmanship was better than factory.. The seam at the top of the quarter panel where it meets the roof was perfect, alot better than the factory did.

When we got the car back it looked great...3-4 years later that single quarter panel was maroon on a bright red car...

So yeah you might be totally pleased with the workmanship, but you can't be sure of the workmanship until a few years later..

Granted paints these days are ALOT better.. There's basically only one paint I would have put on my truck Spies-Hecker(used on Porsches) I've read that it's elastomer holds up, and even when the paint cures, it's not totally dried up like most other paints.
