Grrr!! Header to x-pipe leak

Spent 6 hrs installing Bassani headers & off-roasd x-pipe and @ 5am when I went for a test drive home I found out my pass. header to x-pipe has a very annoying leak. Every thing is tight and evenly tightened. Anyone have any ideas how to stop leak, maybe hi-temp RTV on mating surface. Other than the annoying exhaust leak, they sound awsome:D

Shawn, I assume the leak is in the collector correct?
Don't get too worried at this point. Get a couple run cycles on them then get under there and retorque it , that should take care of it if not, something is not right either header ball or Xpipe socket, I personally would not use any sealant. You payed premium price and should not leak.....

Hope this helps

I feel your pain!:D
I drove around for nearly a month when I installed my X pipe with the same sound. I fixed it (finally) by just undoing both collectors and simply reinstalling it. I did the passenger side first, then the drivers side and it worked! No more leaks!

Oh yeah, Make sure the header bolts aren't backing out on you! I had nearly half of them come out less than 2 weeks of my header install. They were making some noise too!

Good luck!

Just got done retighting the collector bolts and finally got the leak to go away:tu: I hoped that getting the pipes warm, cool, warm... a few times would help them seat. I'm glad I have access to a pit & own impacts:D Now maybe I can truly find out how the new exhaust sounds:D Thanks for your suggestions!

now you can update your sig. :)

would you have any access of posting some pictures of your new system installed?

There I updated my Sig:D

I'll try to get my brother to snap & post some pics durning his spring break (March 11-18) as I don't have a digi camera.
