Gen 1 Torque converter?

I'm having a problem with my torgue converter, seems like when I bolt the trans up to the motor there's to much play between the converter and my flex plate (like 1/2" to 3/4"). I've already ovaled the converter once and blow the trans pump. So when they welded a new hub on my converter they made it the same size , and now i'm wondering if it was wrong when i purchased it . Any way I have it out of the truck now and wanted to know what the dimensions are suppose to be from the end of the hub to the flat part of the converter which rest on the flex plate.

Ray,

If the convertor has a billit cover a 120 thousands.
The clearence between the converter mounting surface and the flywheel.
If you a talking about the overall height of the converter I can meassure on tomorrow and post it.

Jim, I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. If you could give me the overall measurment of a converter would be great. I'm running a level 10 trans with their converter so I really wanted to try and fix the one I have before spending another $900.00 on a new one.
