front end clunk

Every once in a while I get a clunk in the front end while parking. I did a search and didn't find the info I was looking for. What part is causing the clunk? I read that ford doesn't replace any thing, they just lube the joints/bushings. Are there any updated parts available yet?

You can grease your steering stops to see if that helps. It is probably your lower a-arm moving because Ford put a slot in it for alignmement. So the bolt cant stay put.Fords fix is to clean the lower arm and install star washers the grip better then standard washers.Another more permanent fix is the washers that Herb Jackson is selling. They fill up the slot and keep the bolt centered and stop the a-arm from moving and hurting the alignment.you need to get a cam kit from NAPA and it installs on your upper a-arms so you can adjust your alignment .You can contact Herb at
jacksonherb@hotmail.com I dont have the NAPA part number but I am sure someone out there on the Gen 2 board has it.I know the person that machines the washers and they are high quality parts.

Cam bolt install?

Is it obvious how the cam bolts install? Does somebody have a picture of this? The only other way I know to solve this is to weld the bolt head after alignment. Which is the cheapest but not the best way. Can somebody explain how the cam bolts install?

The cam bolt kit I bought from NAPA (264-2953 - same as shown in pic above) has a diagram and written instructions in it. They simply replace the bolts attaching the upper control arm to the chassis. Basically....

Cam bolt will have one cam washer affixed on it
Then slide on thrust washer
Insert cam bolt on truck (pull old ones one at at time)
Then 2nd thrush washer
Lock washer
Nut
Torque to 80-100 ft lb

You will probably need to make some adjustment to the alignment to get the caster and camber in reasonable ranges. I have not done it yet. Then get to an alignment shop...ASAP.

I lowered my wife's truck with the FRPP kit. I took the truck to an alignment shop just a few minutes ago and they wanted $80-$90 to install the cam bolts. So I am back home. Will probably do the install myself later today. Also I only bought one kit not noticing I need one kit per side.:o Gotta call NAPA.

Thanks... How much for washers and cam bolt kit?
Cam bolt kits were $16.59 at NAPA (need two kits.) Don't know on washers. Try contacting the guy listed in fairlane's post.
