First two Lightnings to race in a few years

In the area I live in, we have VERY few Lightnings, gen 1's or 2's.

My friend from Indiana who has another Gen 1 was in and we raced from a stoplight.

It was the first time two Lightnings had lined up to race since the mid 90's I would say.

It was very special, because we ran approximately a quarter mile (staged up from a stop and everything) and we were DEAD even the entire run. I'm talking bumper to bumper. We could not declare a winner it was so close, which is the way I like em. It was a perfect way to reintroduce this area to the Gen 1's.


Look out Kentucky.....they're back!

I ran upon a Gen 1 last summer and was toying around with him on the highway. We got on it, from about 45 or 50. His truck must have not been modified in any way, because I left him sitting still !

You should have seen the look on this guys face when we rolled up to the next red-light. He asked me if it was stock! All I could do was sit there with a big ol' grin on my face and shaking my head no!!

But,.......I would much rather toast a GM F-Body than one of my own kind! Especially since I got my Vortech installed,...........much better than the Power-Dyne that it replaced!!

I've only gotten into one stint with another L owner, a white '95 I ran across on the highway. I rolled up beside him, we waved, and both punched it. I heard a supercharger whine up and he flew off ... never could catch up to him to talk

I've raced 5 other G 1's I've beat three pretty bad got beat by one and was dead even with one. I did'nt spray any of these trucks except for the one that beat me but, he was on the spray too. I've been pretty lucky to find trucks that don't have many mods!lol

What is interesting is that my truck just a few things done to it, and this truck i raced runs a 8.9 in an 1/8 (and has ran it also)
which is 13.9 in a 1/4.

we think mine has engine work cuz unfortunately my truck doesn't have GT40 heads. It has the same heads as my friend's 5.0 F-150. How ****ty of a deal can you get? shew

now maybe their ported and polished? but why not just port the stock GT's??????????
