On my first outing with the truck a year ago, it ran 15.7 @ 87. Disappointing to say the least. It had a bassani xpipe, underdrives and a k&n cone.
A few months later i added the powerdyne blower. It ran a 14.7 @ 93.
A few days later i fixed a mistake in the vacuum setup, and it ran a 14.4 @ 94.
about 5 months later, I've replaced the entire set of vacuum lines, dropped the step bumper and added a rollpan, and swapped a 2.7" pulley and smaller belt on the powerdyne. On my first launch, i had such ridiculous axle hop that i had to let off for a split second. The truck ran a 14.34 @ 98. My eyes bugged out at the mph, and i pulled around for another run. This time i eased off the line and then hammered it. It spun momentarily and then hooked. The result was a 13.6 @ 99. I didn't find out until the dude at the timeslip booth said "hey, you can't run anymore without a helmet" I looked at him curiously, then he grinned and said congrats.
My friends had 1 helmet between them and i would have had to wait an hour to get a chance to run with it, so i chugged on home. I know i have lots of room for improvement - i had a 2.1 60', and was hearing a bit of pinging around 4800rpm. Also, as i was goofing off on the way home, my friend said i was one-wheel-peeling out onto the interstate. I've noticed my truck doesn't really like turning either (the motor seems to sorta bog rather than swing the tail out). Any ideas on this?
Anyways, i have bassani headers ready to go on, and an adjustable fpr. I think i'm going to try to come up with a set of drag radials for next time.
