Factory Tach

I wanted to run this by you guys...my factory tach reads 350-400 RPM's when in idle. And gets no movement unless I give it some throttle. Then it will jump to what seems to be the right reading. Now if I cruise normally, it seems to read right....a little less than 3k rpm's. Has anyone had this problem and know the fix? I'm considering getting the white face gauges but I'm not sure if that comes with actual new gauges or is it just the face plate.

New white faced gauges are just inserts. They do not give you any macanical pieces. It is just an over lay.
