Factory Amplifier...Location??

Hey guys,

I'm attempting to install a new stereo into my 94 L1, and I'm trying to locate the factory amplifier that supposedly exists somewhere in my truck. Can someone tell me where to find it?

My truck had the stock CD player installed...

Second (less important) question...what is the second grey plug going into the back of the stock HU for? Factory CD changer option?

May be wrong

I may be wrong but I have had three L,s a 95 and 2 93,s and I have replaced all of the factroy stereos in them. None of the three had a factory amp in them.

Its behind your radio in the wiring harness . Gray plug might be for the trucks with the standard radio group.:tu:

I know it has to have a factory amp...'cause there aren't any speaker wires coming out of the factory HU!

Supposedly the trucks w/ factory CD had an outboard amplifier.

I was told the same about the Ls with the cd player I could not tell ya for sure though.

If I recall, there was something directly above the throttle pedal that I bypassed when I put an aftermarket CD player in my truck. Might want to check there...

...and I think you can see it if you stick your head under the dash and look up, with a flashlight of course.

Yep it's right above and to the right of the gas pedal and the plug points straight down

i have a stereo in my truck, i really dont think believe there is one,inless the factory one have a cd player, but i never had a problem, later

There is definately one there in my 94 and it had the Cassette.
Just like Jerry says it is down there above the gas pedal.
