Equal or Unequal, that is the question

Sorry sam, i have no idea about the headers, but weren't you going to install a boost and fp gauge? Did you ever get that done? I'd like to see some underhood pics of how you ran the wires/boost line. Thanks!

Sam, I have the Bassani equal length. I felt like it maybe would give me a couple of horsepower over the unequal with the supercharger. After changing the spark plugs a couple of times I wished that I had the unequal. If I ever get another set to replace them it will be the unequal. Unless it is dynoed with one and then the other there is no way of knowing if there is any horspower gain. That's my .02 cents worth.

Where Y'at Litl Sam, David Vizard wrote a very good article on headers a few years ago. He said for the equals to work the rpms had to be way up there. His view was that primary tube size & collector size/length is more important. I like Black 93's reason myself.

Go equal man! I think you will be more satisfied with them! Depending on the cash you want to dish out, get long tubes! I orderd mine, but havn't seen them yet!

They are 1&3/4" primarys with 3" collectors! Now, I'm kicking myself and think I should have went with 1&7/8"! The ones I ordered will probably work better for my set up currently, but once the motors done, They will be a tad small!

My problem with the unequals I've seen for out trucks is that the flanged connections are junk. They're welded on the inside which reduces the flow area out of the exhaust port. I spent $150 on my old SVO headers having this problem fixed.

The Bassanis, on the other hand, are welded on the outside and the quality difference on that alone is worth the rare hassle of changing the plugs to me (I've gotten to where it's only a 15-20 minute job whatever the case).

Now, the down side of the Bassanis is that they've got individual flanges where a lot of the unequals have a single flange. As my Bassanis have aged, they've become a real BEAR to install - I use the analogy of wrestling with anacondas... and nearly losing. The single-flange headers won't have this problem.

All that said, I'll be going (unwillingly) to unequals when I install the turbo. I'll clean up and perhaps even reweld the flange joints when I do.
