Electric Fans

What electric fan set-ups are available for our trucks? I only know of two, the Flexalite 210 duals and the JDM single. How hard are they to install, and are there any problems with them?

Thanks,

Jason, I just got the Jdm fan while it was on sale back in Dec. It is very easy to install. If you go with this one, save your self some money and do not buy their ac relay. It is set up to use on the gen 2 L and not ours. This fan is the sharpest looking one I have seen so far. It looks like it came on the truck from the factory. It cools the truck just find and you can see the difference in more rear wheel horsepower!!!!!

The Flex-a-lite fans work VERY well on our trucks. You can go to www.summitracing.com and look at the FLX-220 set up and see what they look like. They are dual 12" fans. If you are familiar with auto electrical stuff then you can wire up a dual relay circut to run the fans. Really very simple to do this. It will turn the fans on @ 200dgrs and off @ 185dgrs. The relay kit part # is PRF-30102. Then go to pepboys and get a 30 amp fog light relay and a relay base port and use this for the A/C relay cicut. It is not hard. If you want just E mail me(fordfreak95@aol.com) and I will help you as much as I can without photos. :( Sorry, no digital cam!

Pros: lose the heavy metal fan, less weight for the engine to spin, pick up 1-2MPG and around 1MPH on your trap speed. Allows you to cool down the engine anytime, or let her warm up, however you want to control it. Provides a lot more space for working, and a belt change only takes 10 seconds.

Lots of clearance:

Cons: Well, it all depends on how you wire it. I can't see any practicallity problems. The only problems I had were that the way I had mine set up, it kept draining the battery (fixed now). They pull a high load, so if your alternator's not up to snuff, your truck will quickly die (I have underdrive pulleys, stock alternator pulley, my truck will idle for 20 minutes with lights/radio/fans on before the battery drains itself)

But, for the cost, I don't think you could go wrong.
