Ebay computers....need some advice/opinions

Has anyone bought a computer off of ebay? How reliable/trustworthy is it? What should I look for in pros and cons? Any specific places on there that are good to deal with in the purchase of a computer? I'd like a laptop but am also looking at desktops. Any recommendations? Comments?

It's basically a crapshoot. There are way too many vendors on there, and I really don't trust ebay for buying things like that. One thing you could try is to find a local vendor that uses eBay, or find out if that vendor is listed on www.resellerratings.com

Personally, I've bought two computers at once on eBay, from a local shop that worked out of the Baltimore flea market. Went by and picked them up with cash, and had them boot them up for me to verify they worked before I paid.

Last year a buddy of mine lost $1500 from a guy in New Jersey. According to the Attorney general he duped over 50 people on the same scam. Still at large.
I personally would not buy a puter off ebay., just my .02 though!

Thanks. I was kinda thinking about it but I just don't trust the sales off of ebay. Therefore no way am I going to do it. I looked at prices and the stuff that was offered and things were just going TOO cheap and all. Just too good to be true.
