E-150 "big brake" rear end build thread. Need opinions and advise.

I have 2 sets of the van front brakes, (one for red, SC-L) they would have already been on, but stalled the plan when I tried test fit the race lines, of course they didn't clear.
I love the look of my race lines, but they would only be used at the track, so had shelved the idea for a bit.

On the wide rears, we tried that with Jeff's (E9tac) widened gen2's and it works, but we didn't care for the look, and figured the tires sticking out would fling crap over the whole side of the truck also. (not a option with his show truck).
Its just a personal preference thing, he ended up going mini tub, I was all on board with the same idea, but wanted big brakes to go with, now it seems I cant do both, and all the really wide 18 tires are like 30 series profile, way to low profile for me. So currently thinking 305 45 18 will be enough, and get to keep the bed rug also. :tu

The joys of playing with cars, lol.

I'm confused (probably me)

You don't have big front brakes because of your race lines but you want back disc brakes that won't clear the 15" race lines.

Jumped on the front brake idea, back around 2012 after Mike, drvovru put the missing link to get this to work on his 2wd Bronco. (he lives 25 mins away)
Test fitted the race lines, they didn't fit, so the idea got shelved.
Since then I have decided to go ahead and do this, with the brakes being near new on the red truck, it hadn't been high on the to do list. (can't believe its been this long, lol.)
still stock at the moment. planning on doing the front and rear swap at same time.

Currently, between the kid's 95 lightning, and another 94 red Lightning I own, I hope the racelines will get used someday, but not very sure at this point.

I got a pickerel T trim kit, that will end up on one of the trucks someday also, lol.

Now I'm getting it. Your going to go big brakes front and rear and make the decision that you won't run the race lines on this truck anymore.

here's some e150 8.8 rear disc info. the wheel mounting surface(5-bolt axle flange) to axle housing tube flange surface(4-bolt) for the e150 is 3.25". the 4-bolt flange bolt spacing is about 1.65" vertically and about 3.76" on one side and about 4.12" on the other side horizontally. the flange is rotated 180 degrees from the driver's side to the passenger's side. this e150 8.8 rear info was confirmed by my94lightning measuring the e150 rearend he has. from just looking at the photos the 4-bolt axle tube flange appears to have about 12mm dia bolts. my gen1 8.8 rearend has a 2.50" offset and a 4-bolt flange with 2.00" vertical bolt spacing and 3.562" horizontal spacing. the bolts are grade 8 and .375" dia.
