Just saw a ad on the new dodge ram srt-10 cylinder.dodge says it will be the fastest truck in the world.Tell me this cant be true.Its says it will run the quarter in 13 sec.If it is they had to go with 10 cylinders to do it.Hope ford does something about this.I will have to dump some more money into my truck,i will not be beat by a dodge.I think i can run in 13s now,i will have to do more to get to 12s.I thought i saw one of these dodge trucks at a dealer near me.
 
a good driver should be able to take a Gen 2 to 12's stock.......... and pay $20,000 less............
 
12's in a stock G2, I don't think so, I could see mid or maybe low 13's but, 12's on a stock G2 is alittle much I would think.
 
If they say this truck will run high 12 to 13 sec.doesnt it mean it will do it with street tires.Our Gen1 trucks need slicks to go that fast,if our truck was capable of doing it.

Ummm, Bill. My Gen 1 goes low 13s on radials. If you want a hard street radial, Im still good for a 13.7 or so. You just need more power. :D
 
Yea hotrod i know you can,you got some money in yours.I was just refering to us slower guys.I know i could probably do 13s with slicks,i dont think so with street tires.going 12s or 13s with street tires is real good.Im talking about regular street tires too.not real soft or street cheater slicks.
 
I just saw a show on ESPN I think it was the North American Auto Show, anyway they showed this dodge truck and they said it comes with the viper motor and puts out 500 hp and 500 ft pounds of torque. It also comes with the viper brakes. And does the quarter mile in UNDER 13 seconds. This will be a serious contender.
 
come on now. that thing if ever making it into production with those specs will be very high on price. dodge will do the same thing that chevy did to the camaro. they tuned down the camaros because corvette owners cried about spending 50 k and getting a car that was only slightly faster then a lesser model of the same make. they have been doing this since the first camaro in 67. dodge will not make a truck that could even partly shadow its viper. that motor will deffenetly be tuned down if the truck sees the public. and i think i saw 24 inch wheels? those will not see production untill 24 inch tires have a market to compete on. 20 inch rims are finally being offered as stock now that the tire industry has caught up to it. even more, this truck will be a donkey on gas and i respect dodge for the whole bigger is better thing, especially in the cubes department but i dont see this truck hitting the street in the trim that it has at the shows.
 
Joe, The announcer at the Detroit show said they will build it with the full 500HP Viper motor. He also said it will be in showrooms this (2002) Fall shortly after the '03 Viper shows up. Making those bold statements at the Detroit show on a press day would be idiotic if they were not going to back it up. Of course that does not mean they will.

In other sources I have read about Dodge saying it will be priced competitively with the L. This is what they are saying...we all wait to see what happens.

As far as the hideous 24" wheels go, the video playing in the background as they showed the truck on stage (in Detroit ) had what look like 18" wheels on it.

That truck is badass

a 500hp truck with a stick? I imagine the insurance on that baby is going to be pretty high. People are going to be flipping those things over left and right.

Man, if they really do come out with those next year, I may have to start with the bolt-ons before my warranty expires :)
 
Hey guys,I think its out already.There is one sitting out in front of my area dodge dealer.It looks just like the picture on this post from Bimota guy.or its one made to look like one ,which i dought.It will give us something to compete with now,other than our selves.

anyone who knows any of the dodge trannys now knows they suck. they are consatantly breaking and soak up huge power so how much of those 500 horses will see the ground. the l comes in at 380 to the wheels which translates into roughly 470 to the motor and is why they have 42 pound injectors and then once again the dodge is running 2 more piston as well but then the blower will be the offset. what doesnt inpress me about the dodge is they took a motor out of another car and just transplanted it, as the l took a motor in their stablre and changed the whole thing by adding boost and cooling. they didnt just take a cobra motor and throw it in a truck. althought the 4 valve in the same setup would anniliate any thing the dodge trucks can muster
 
Are you saying the new Lightinings have 380 RWHP? That is not accurate. They have a claimed 380 Fly Wheel Horsepower, not 470.

And technically, the Viper motor started life as a truck motor lifted from the Dodge Truck line. It was, of course, pumped up a tad.
