Did someone here purchase old engine?

A while back, someone had said that somebody had their engine replaced and they were able to buy their old one for the core charge, really cheap-like $100 or something. Was it anyone here?
Thanks

That doesn't sound possible. But if there is a chance, I'll definitely buy mine back as soon as the new one goes in.
If mine does get replaced, I will definately be checking into it. It doesn't hurt to ask. :)

Well, the worst has proven itself. I took my L in for an oil leak, the second time now. I just got a call and confirmed that the head gasket is leaking again! They have to replace the engine this time. I asked about a new engine----nope, reman. Will take about 2 weeks to get to the dealer. There are no more new 2001 engines to be sent out. The remainder were sent to the reman. co. I could get a new one or one rebuilt, but won't know for sure. This blows!!! I'll just add it to my list of problems I've had and keep good record. We'll see where it leads....

Hi PFA,
I bet your daughter will be helping in the pits this year:eek:
Just 2 1/2 months to WFC5...ya ya ya:p This year we will have group parking, and Nan won't have to drag your jack so far;) I am also bringing a box of spare jack handle bolts, to replace the ones that vibrate out when Nan is dragging the jack around:tu:

See ya there...and hope the truck is fixed with a NEW engine :b

Q

Jeff-How much did they charge you for it? Who did you have to deal with?

Jake-Families great. Thanks.

Big D-I am hoping to have both kids there. I should have custody of my almost 15 year old by then. :tu: I'll some extra bolts too. and will be there early enough to park with everyone else! I even have one of those pop up tents that JL and Speedy have.

Speedy-I am going to try and buy it back. hopefully it's not too much. I am told it will only be a long block that is being replaced. Still be nice to have to rebuild.
BTW-what did you guys have to stake your tents down with?

PFA,

after a $100 EZ-UP repair, I'm pondering small buckets with concrete and eyelets as well as removing the top and lowering the tent each night. Lesson learned..

A Lightning Long block would make a nice centerpiece/tent anchor though... ;):D

I only paid $100 bucks for my complete motor supercharger and wireharness. could not pass it up. It did have a hole in the block and 3 broken rods.

the first new motor they sent had a bad headgasket from the start. So bad it was leaking coolent through the exhaust. I ended waitin 4 months before I got my truck back.

Jeff, that's incredible! I can't believe they let even the supercharger go for that! Wish me luck, I want in on that action myself.

Wayne,
Let me know if you get the old motor. I have two motors in the works. We could build some thing nasty at a reasonable price.

HIGH RISK

PFA,

If you are getting a reman 01 L motor don't worry because it is actually a rebadged 01 new motor. Ford sent the remaining engines to A.E.R. (Ford's rebuilder) and they just remove the stickers on the valve covers, add in a few necessary gaskets and affix a 1" x 1" metal plate to the RH side of the block that has "Remanufactured" and the 01 part number 1L3Z-6006-HARM. Mine was just replaced due to an oil consumption problem as well as a fellow board members, both were new motors and as described above.

As far as buying your core back, current core charges are $1000 and I was told by the Remanufactures rep that the warranty claim would be voided (mine was right at $4400) if they did not receive the core back. LightningJeff's deal sounds a little different as his motor was sent directly from the assembly line as it included the blower, harness, ect. In his case someone in the parts dept made a quick $100 selling what was considered scrap, not a bad deal for either party, but much different then what is taking place now.
