Clacking Noise When Turning the Steering Wheel

Whenever I turn the steering wheel I can hear a sharp clacking noise from beneath the hood. This is especially noticeable when the L is stopped.


Any ideas? Thx in advance...

Sounds like I have the same thing. Not sure what it is yet. I have to replace my center link, get camber bushings and alignment. I pretty sure this is causing some of it. Once it warms up, I'm gonna drain the P/S pump and rack and fill with fresh fluid...just for good measures.

CHECK THE I BEAM MOUNT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRUCK.THE BRACKET BOLTS WERE FINGER TIGHT ON MINE. IT IS NEXT TO THE RH MOTOR MOUNT.

Do the front wheels have to be off the ground to check for looseness?

Yes, jack it up at the radius arm bushing bracket. Take the wheel off, it will allow you to move the I-beam easier.

No I could turn the bolts on mine by hand while it was on the ground.
