Carbon Fiber Dash

I have always wanted a carbon fiber dash kit, but I don't want the overlay stuff. I want it to look like it was meant to be there. Does anyone know of a place I could buy one? And does anyone have any pictures of their truck with one?

You can't tell the overlay from real CF and it fits properly because it is the original factory pieces. The real CF pieces do not fit properly, they are brittle, crack and you can someting see light through the pieces unless you paint the backside black. Made from molds and require a lot of fitting and very expensive.
Main thing is to find/use a reputable company for the overlay processing.

I have the DGM c/f dash kit from:

DGM Products

It's the real deal and the fit and finish was very good when I got mine about 5or 6 years ago. It's certainly not cheap though!

HOLY CRAP!!!! $350... wow they are proud of their stuff. It does look good though. I also see the engine pieces too but man I will end up spending $800 for all of it lol. thanks for the pictures guys

You can't tell the overlay from real CF . . .

Have you ever even seen real carbon fiber? I have to assume not, because anyone who has could not make that claim.

These photos look like painted-on houndstooth checks -- which is exactly what it is -- and I could see that from 20 feet away. It looks about as real as Joe Biden's hair plugs or Courtney Love's boobs.

Looks nice Ed! Does that stick on to the original dash pieces with tape? I just bought the carbon fiber shroud and wire loom covers from them and the fit and finish was not that great. I'm not sure if I trust them enough to buy the dash kit.

Yea, it has the 3m tape on back. As I said..the fit and finish was good when I got mine about 5 years ago. I have heard that particularly the fit quality has somewhat diminished of late.

The DGM dash "kit" is actually made to fit the s/crew. They don't have a kit specifically for the single cab. Therefore, I had to order individual dash pieces. The DGM door handle pieces would not work due to the number of switches on the s/crew. I had my door pieces done by Pheonix Imaging (whom I do not recommend) so they are the "painted" version of c/f (like pictured above) and are alright as long as you don't have it side by side with the actual c/f. Overall, it looks fine but you can see the difference in these pics.

Yeah, the fit and finish has gone down with DGM products. I had to put 4 extra screws in my shroud to hold it down and work on the wire loom pieces with a grinder to get them to fit. The carbon fiber itself has some bad places in it and I painted the back of them flat black to hide the flaws. For what I paid, the parts should have been better.

Yea, I had to add an extra screw on the ends of my rad shroud as well. No biggie though.

is DGM the only company that deals with real carbon fiber for our trucks? its kinda sad that they charge so much for a product with so many flaws. i really want alot of their pieces but after all the neg comments about the quality i dont know.

I think they are the only company left. I should have raised hell about the parts I got but I waited so long for them, I just made them work.

i can deal with fitment issues. but i will not compromise on quality when it comes to those prices. i found some kits to do your own carbon fiber and its alot less thatn DGM prices...might just make my own pieces lol.

I wish Chickenears would get into the CF buisness. He was building billet pieces with CF inlays and they looked great.

I fixed the shroud with a few screws and some flat black paint and it looks great now. I've never dealt with carbon fiber so getting an exact fit may not be possible without some tweaking. I saw a GT500 at a car show this weekend and his CF shroud made mine look like a master piece, so maybe I am being to hard on DGM.

CF is definitely an art. I have a CF wallet and a couple of watches with CF faces, and they look perfect. But to do it right, you really need someone willing to use top-notch CF fabric and resins, a vacuum molding device, and an autoclave for the bake-out.
