Cam Motion

Yep, thats the same phone number I have as well! Talk to Terry, I need to call him and get a cam myself, but I'm fightning the urge! LOL :D

I ordered it today and it should be here by the end of next week..... How much do you think i will gain with my new TFS heads, Bassani headers, and a custom grind from terry........ I sure hope i feel the difference because my bank account sure did..........

jim

I don't think we can give you a specific number on what you'll gain, but from EVERYTHING I've heard about Terry's work you'll definantly feel the difference.. I would rate his cam's as being probably one of the best bang for the buck mods(once you have heads), probably behind nitrous..

Possible 30-40HP for 300?? Yeah I think it's a good deal...

I picked up around 100 hp at the wheels with a head and cam swap when I was running the powerdyne

Jerry

Some were saying that their cam ran them about 300 bucks and mine was only 151.95............. Which is a flat tappet hydraulic cam...... Are the more expensive ones roller cams????

jim

Guys,
What are your opinions on whether it is worth going to a roller profile for a warm street grind. I'm talking about something in the neighborhood of say .510 lift and split duration of 210-214 or so, speed density friendly-114 lobe sep.. Basically a cam that will see a 5500 max shift.
I know there are many schools of thought that deals with opening rates, lifter weight ect.

Later,
Steve

I think going to a roller cam is definantly a good thing on a street cam. You can run less duration with more lift. A comparable cam to the cam spec'd out on a roller cam would be .533 lift 210/215 114LS.. It's a comp cam's magnum roller for the 5.0. You can run the lift to get the air flow, but still have the small duration our trucks need for low-end and computer compatibilty.

Just from friction reduction it'll give ya a few HP... And better longevity.

Steve, I went to dinner with John Webb last night and we had exactly that discussion.

You'll make more power with the roller cam. There's more area under the curve, so to speak. BUT, is it worth 4 times the price to do the conversion and get the custom roller? That's a hard call and only one you can make.

John said his goal was 13.0s with a supercharger, Edelbrock heads, and a cam. For him, a flat tappet cam is plenty.

I guess the REAL question is "what's your goal?"

Well, if you find a roller motor in the 'yard and pull them out like I did, you can run a custom roller for about $300, and a broken ratchet. take breaker bar... Hey Jeff, what is the pushrod length for a roller with AFR's?

Depends on the springs. I used 7.55s (BTW, I have a set of the Trick Flow 7.55s that I'll sell) with the standard springs. The upgraded springs I have on my newer set required 7.65s.
