Hey how are you doing, i was just told by GEN14U2NV that you have a home made ram air kit. I was wondering if you could give me all the part numbers and maybe show me some pictures so that i can do it myself. TIA
Ill get back with you this evening with the parts it takes to build your own cold air induction. You do have to cut a small area in your radiator support with a sawzall. Its only a little 4"x4" area, but it works good. Talk to you later.....
Sorry for the delay. Here is a parts list and what you'll have to do to cut the radiator support.
1) 10'x 4" drain pipe (thin wall)
2) 2- closet 90*s They are 4" to 3".
3) 1- 4" 45*
4) 3- 3" wide hose straps
5) 9" K&N conical filter
6) PVC glue
7) Sawzall
It takes a LOT of measuring and test fitting to get it all lined up BEFORE you glue anything together. The scaries part (but not hard) is cutting the radiator support. There are pictures in the NLOC archives to look at as a guide.
You know I should start selling these in kit form. I could pre-cut all the lengths and give a detailed instruction. Hmm...
Hey Rod its me again and i looked through the archives but i could not find any pictures of the set up. I am a little scared of doing it without looking at some pictures can you take some pics or tell me what the title was on that thread. Thanks Rod and sorry for bothering you again.
I can do you one better. I can Email you all the pics of the CAI. It will be this evening, though. Im going racing and I have to get the Centerlines mounted up and the truck ready to go. Its time to whip those F-bodies again!!
HOTROD, if you dont mind, I think a lot of people here would like to see that ram air set up again. Also if you post it here again, it will be in the archives for later referance. I know for one that I would like to see the pictures.
Hey John, Thanks for posting the pics. I have a few of those clamps here at home. Ill try to get to the hose & pipe place down the street and see if I can get a piece similar to what those are. These came from a job I was on about 2 years ago when I first started thinking of the CAI. Ill let you know what I can dig up.
I built kind-a-sorta the same thing and used a 3"-4" rubber reducer, 3" side on the T.B. and the 4" on the PVC pipe. It can be found at Home Depot speed shop
Hey thanks for all of your help. I went to Hoe Depot and they could not find all the parts. Then i went to another plumming shop and they did not have the 3" Hose Straps. I will keep on trying to get all the stuff together and then get all started.
