Im thinking of getting rid of my cable tv provider. I pay about $43 a month for service.no hbo or show time.how is the satelite deals?is the pic much better?what about service? Richard:D white95#1076

I ve got the DSS sat and love it.Picture is kiiler.BUT sometimes its not, depends on the weather. Like if its real cloudy pic is not as good and sometimes if its real bad you dont get a picture.Im not telling you what I pay hehe. But you can get pretty good stuff for 40 bucks

The pic and sound are top notch, but like Marcus said, if it's really nasty out the service goes out. You can pay outlandish amounts if you really want to, or you can get the basic setup.. But for HBO and other premium channels expect to pay around twice what you are now a month.. But check first.

Big thing to remember is that with the Sat you will only get 2 TV sets. If you are like me and TV's all over the house you will be stuck watching the same thing as somebody else.

I have both, I have the Sat on the Big Screen with basic cable and then basic cable thru the rest of the house.

Man, the dish is great now that we have local channels too.
My experiance with the illegal card drove me nuts. Had to keep getting reburned than final they said they weren't any good that Direct TV had done something. Unless you stay up on that stuff I wouldn't mess with the card.

There's four channels I miss though.:D ;) :D :D

Hey Raymond, is there a EEC-Tuner for the DSS.:p

I wish it had been that easy. They can zap you without the phone line plugged in. Basically, from what I was told, they are slowly doing away with all the old cards, legit or not. Of course I'm not up on this stuff anymore, they might be able to burn the football cards now. Just not as easy as borrowing cable.

They can ECM the card, They took out 1000's of cards during the last superbowl. They now call those card Black Sunday Cards.

I agree with 95Lightning2, It is not worth the trouble of trying to keep the card alive.

there is a device called an emulator. It is just a computer connected with a sat receiver that doesnt go down like the hacked cards.

About $82 a month, Wide Open West. That's for every channel available on 2 TVs. Digital picture is incredibly good at all times and service so far is also good. Just wish it were a little cheaper. We have cable competition in our city though, so they can't afford to jack you around on your service.
