Here are a couple photos from a brake project Ruslow is working on for the Gen2 Lightnings.

Better brakes, will work with the '99 or '00 wheels, and not too expensive. Stan will post the details.

As for what everyone is seeing is what I have been playing with for about 6 mos. now.The rotor in the pic is a 12" [same as stock]but is replaceable and has a lot better cooling properties.It would be a bolt on upgrade to the stock.No brackets or any adapters would be required.This is what I will use in the openroad stuff.
I am waiting on the BIG rotors to show up.They will be basicly the same but will have to have adapters for the caliper brackets but will fit the stock 99 and 00 wheels.This is what I will use for the open track stuff.I will use this set and the other in open track events to see if they can take the punishment.
Then there is the balls out set which I MIGHT post a pic of them.They will have the same big rotors but with either alcon or wilwood staggered piston calipers.
If all works out I MIGHT sell them to the public if so they will be on an as ordered bases. Stan
 
Keep us posted! I'm very interested in an alternative to Brembo's. BTW, Ruslow are you using aftermarket rear springs? I'm trying to decide between the Hotchkis setup and the new fiberglass springs.

Hi Stan. Very interesting indeed. What percentage of cooling improvement would you rate them at (ballpark)?

Any way to get those slotted?

The cooling increase is big.While I had them on the lathe to ck for runout I could feel the air moving through the vanes.The stock one while I had them at the same speed cutting the rotor off there was little if any air flow through the vanes.I would guess 50% increase.Look and your rotor vanes and then look at the one that is posted.I wonder how air can even find its way out on the stock rotor.
Forgot to mention that since these are racing rotors they are designed NOT to be resurfaced!But at the price that I can sell replacements [around 35.00 each]why turn them anyway.
As for slotting I can but will be a thin one because of rotor thickness.Stan

Which list? I have the rotors that are slotted and dimpled[like in the box] ready to go.Now the others are work in progress.But will work with any Gen2 lightning IF I decide to offer them to the public.Stan

Are the slotted and dimpled rotors which you currently have in stock also cryo'ed? If not, is it possible for you to treat the rotors or would it be best for me to contact another company for that service myself? Also, do you anticipate a date for the two-piece rotor and hat design that fits the stock equipment? I'm sure you're quite busy already, or so it seems, but I think the two-piece design pictured in the first post would be the best route. That said, I would wait for that kit before buying the mod'ded stock rotors, although I must mention what an awesome price that is for the stock rotors. I priced some slotted rotors for an Expy at $200 a piece. Thanks for all of your work.

The problem for me is to get them cryo'd I have to ship somewhere and to ship rotors is not cheap so the cost of shipping would be more than the treating itself would be.I am waiting for a friend to get his tanks up and running but it will be atleast 6 mos. before that will happen.As for a release date on the others.Like I said I might release them to the public but have to check what my liblity{sp} is one the product first.And test them out under racing conditions.Stan

Better off to buy the slotted rotors now for that reason.

Ok the brakes are done.
1 set is the 12 inch rotor only thing differt form the pic posted is these are curved vane instead.
Set 2 is the bigger boys.13 inch rotor which uses the curved vane also.

Both sets will use the stock calipers and brake pad selection so there will be NO fitment problems with any of the stock wheels.
Now I need to know how many would be interested in these.They will be sold as an "off road only".The price will be $500 for the set 1 and $1100 for set 2.Need to get for sure people before I commite[sp] to anything and decide to go forther into this.No money is needed just a FIRM commitment to this.So If I do decide to go thru I can count on you buying.Stan
 
Since they will not have DOT cert.I can not sell them for onroad use.I plan on using the 12 inch rotors for the Silver State and such other open road events.And the 13 for the track like thunderhill and Hallet plus as many others as possible.
So on this question I will take the 5th!
I will have braking distances by the end of the weekend on the slotted rotors that I have as well as the 12inch converted rotors.Am curious to see the difference.Stan
