I've been away for awhile so I don't know if you all have seen/discussed the special package truck called the "Boss 5.4"??

I was driving by the Ford dealer in Tampa, Fla and saw what I thought maybe a yellow Lightning...but it was another truck done up quite nicely....but after checking out the sticker price...($36K) I'd have to buy a Lightning instead.

Has anyone else seen these trucks or know more about them???

Im sorry to say but my dad and I hate that truck. If your gonna spend 36K on a truck buy a L. Not some F-150 with a crappy paint job and a non functional RamAir hood. All that thing has is some big air box and rims oh plus the interior and the crappy paint. Another thing someone bought one here in Illinois. Boy I feel sorry for that person. Wow what a piece. But the new Cobra WOWOWOWOW! Do I love that thing. Thats gonna be the new Corvette Killer. Just puttin in my 2 cents on that piece o' crap BOSS 5.4.

There was one on eBay awhile back. I was really tossed up between it being unique, or it being ugly. Bright yellow paint, a very tall ram-air hood (in black), yellow interior, and no performance :)

The wife would prolly prefer that to the L because of the running boards. Personally I like the color. But that's all. With a run-o-the-mill 5.4L, I hope they don't consider this a performance truck.

I have a couple pics of it from the Chicago Auto Show. My wife and I flew up this year. It immediately drew our attention when we walked in.

I walked up, looked, and read the specs. I asked the guy there showing the truck "So it's all show and no go?"

He grinned and said "Yup."

I snapped some pics anyhow. I'll get 'em up in a little while.

I feel the Lightning is a better deal too....but I guess Ford thought theres some people out there that like the "Sport Truck" look that it gives...still the thing should be in the same price range as a Lightning...I don't get it!

BOSS F150

That truck is UGLY!!!!! What a piece!!!! I would definetly buy a LIGHTNING anyday. I would take it for a test drive and puke on the seat when I dropped it back off to the dealer.

i think they should use the celica slogan on it... "at least it looks fast!!!":D :tu:

For some reason they actually think it is fast too, I've already dropped the hammer on many a new celica GT owner who started getting froggy.

Actually, it's not really Ford doing it. It's a conversion company out of Lagrange, IN called "L.A. West". Surprisingly there is quite a demand for these at our dealership. We've already sold 2 and have a 3rd that just came in. There are 4 stages to the truck:

(from back of promotional post card)

1.) Competition Yellow Paint/Dark Graphite Interior, Full "Streetwise" lower body cladding, catback dual exhaust, privacy tint, "Prime" full-polished aluminum 5 spoke wheels, P275/60R17 BSW tires, painted hood scoops/tail light covers & grill, Boss 5.4 badging, sequential production serial numbers w/certificate of authenticity.

2.) Stamped steel simulated cowl induction hood, Boss hood/grill paint design.

3.) "Prime" custom chrome 20 x 8.5" Boss wheels, Goodyear Eagle GTII tires

4.) Boss custome leather steering wheel, Boss immersion technology checkered dash & door trim, Boss two-tone leather seats w/accent piping.

-Limited production 2002 model
-Ford pool units
-3 year/36,000 mile warranty
-Orders will be filled on first-come basis

They only come in the yellow (even though we've pleaded with L.A. West to do red & black, too). They wanted a color that wasn't available on a "stock" F-150.

There's a similar version coming in a few weeks in extended cab format called the "QT". It comes in black, white, red & silver. Same deal, though. Nothing but eyeball and a stock 5.4L w/cat back duals & big pretty wheels.

In case anyone's curious the L's still outsell the @#$% out of the Boss.

For the love of all thats holy!! I could put all my porch furnature on the bumper alone!!!!! that thing is F*ckin monsterous! mike
