I haven't seen the movie yet but saw the special on A&E. It was really good -- "good" as in really informative, not "good" as in entertaining. It was hard to stomach some parts, though, like some sneering Somali assholes talking about dragging American bodies through the streets. Or how every soldier involved in the incident wanted to go out the next day and level the place but the new "policy" didn't call for it.
They said Somali got pirated copys and where clapping when an american got shot etc...
Also in the true story didnt the Americans take out a Crap load of them!
Thank God Bush is in now and not you know who!
I got to play there for awhile and I learned one lesson that is worth repeating. Just because there's a couple of bad apples doesn't make the whole bunch bad. You don't think CNN is going to talk to the people who say "america would be a great place to live" or "I really don't care I'm just hungry". When I was there CNN was reporting about mass starvation and what not. From what I saw (which was a lot) I never saw a starving person. There might have been some but it wasn't wide spread by the time I got there. Most of the people I came in contact with there were just like you or me except the NRA(national rifle assoc.) had a good following there. I think the Rangers that got shot up there did a good job of evening the score, something like 1000 somali's killed.
Just my point of view, later
A friend of mine saw it. The way he described it to me was you know the first 20-25 minutes of Saving Private Ryan when they're trying to take the beach? BHD is two hours of that!
the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan left me in shock hoping that i never have to go through that in my life. BHD made my want to pick up a gun and go help my brother out.
