anyone get avatars to work?

I currently DO NOT have avatars enabled. I may do it in a few weeks, but we again are running out of bandwidth.
We may have to delete embedded pictures, and allow only html pointers to pics stored off this board. Some of the signatures and posted pic' are just too large.:Y
I will announce the avatars, when I turn them on. Now it is time to get ready for Hockey ;t

wow, talk about fast service (less than 10 minutes)...lol, thanks BigD 
*sigh* ok then...i had to try on the avatar thing though
just out of curiousity (if i may ask)...what is it about our board that is causing so many problems? for instance, i visist www.dfwstangs.net alot, and they have had their board (almost exact like this one) up for a few years now and ive not yet heard any ploblems with bandwidth, avatars, or size of pics etc. they've got about 3000 members, 25,000 threads, and about 300,000 posts. they (like us) are also a free site and have all the gizmos, doodads, and then some
now, remember, this needs to be in laymans terms cause you start throwing big words like meg, and driver, and server around and ill be a lost puppy.

I'm very curious also. I visit two other sites, both much larger than the NLOC. One is www.sportbikeworld.com and the other is www.dirtrider.net Neither seems to have any problems, and have additional features. I don't think you can add pictures in your signatures on either, but the boards do have lots more people on them at any one time.
I did have a NLOC membership for a couple years. It was #312. When Jerry took over, I was very glad that he, and everyone else has done a WONDERFUL job expanding what was set up. He did say that the membership went to a bunch of different items, but I didn't use any of them. I don't make it to maybe one NLOC ILLNESS gathering each summer. That's it, so I didn't think membership was something I'd continue. The only thing I used was the NLOC BB, and it was free.
Now, I may put up or shut up. I do want to support the NLOC, but no one has really requested or required that there be additional money to support the BB.
What I want to know is how much it is going to cost to make everyone happy. Increase the bandwith. (What does this actually mean? What is it at now, and what would it be good to be at?) Add the additional features to the BB to make it really enjoyable. (Avatars, etc.)
How many new memberships is it going to require to raise the funding required to do this?
Is it possible to add another feature to the left hand side box, below your screenname to list your NLOC number? Something like the "Senior Member" line, but devoted just to your NLOC #?
I started the poll in the Club section, to find out how important of an item this is. It seems like "Friday's Babes" are more important, but this still seems like it is worth asking about and persuing.
