Anyone else on the board work for AT&T?

Same field, different company

I worked for Williams Communications, but now it's NextiraOne. I'm a switch engineer. I was a field tech/key system installer for 8 years in the Air Force. The training paid off. What's your job at AT+T?

Did I hear switch engineer???!?!?!? That's what I do. Well, one hat at least, part that, part project manager, part traffic engineer, part this, part that... I work for Southwestern Bell, so I guess we are estranged cousins of sorts, svtruck.

BlackLightning, what were you disatisfied about with your wireless service from AT&T?

Also, what about your AT&T Broadband service? I worked for AT&T Broadband in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Finance) for six months and just recently transferred back to AT&T Wireless of whom I've worked for since late 1997. I wish I could have helped you out with your wireless service, I hate to hear about our unhappy customers.

If there is anything I can do, contact me via my e-mail please.

Macgregor, that would make us VERY estranged cousins! :) After the break-up in '84, AT&T's acquisition of McCaw Cellular in the early 90's, and AT&T Wireless' spin-off from MaBell last summer that makes it just about as distant as possible! ;) Hey, at least we're both in the same industry!

I wanted to cross over to sales or project manager, but I don't think I really have the experience. I mean, I have 9 years total telecommunication experience, but only 2 years in the switch. I'd love to do project planning/managing on the field side. Do you travel a lot or are you on site only?

cobrayankee,
I travel very little, maybe once or twice a month. The only times I do is when I have to make a site visit to a central office or a remote, go to training, or go to a meeting held somewhere else. That's about it. I love the job, something different each day, and I'm not tied to the desk totally. It's pretty challenging also, so that keeps it interesting. I used to be in installation with Northern Telecom, that was fun for a while, but the excessive travel got old. But all in all, telecommunications has been good to me. Fun too.:D

Yeah Gitchi, I wear a few, and that don't count my hobbies either....... :D
