OK,my best ET is in the sig and I want/need to lower it but I'm a tightwad.I'm going to get rid of wieght but does anybody have some cheap ideas? Before going to the strip this spring,I'm takin' off the hitch, spare tire, jack and tailgate.I'm thinking that should shed maybe 150 pounds so I should see a difference.I guess I could let Mustang mods go for a while and put the money in the L but I have too many projects so I'm looking for cheap stuff for the L.

Remove your windshield wipers and antenna also. Run with 1/4 tank of gas, pull the passenger seat. Pull the front swaybar (if you have one).

I'm a firm beleiever there is no cheaper horsepower than n2o. Use good sense and a 125 hp kit will never cause you any problems. It'll easily knock a full second off a near-stock motor, if not more. Most times you can pick up a good used kit for under $200.

I've been considering nitrous,it's cheap and easy HP.I have a 71 f-100 project that didn't get anywhere this winter.I thought I had it sold and was thinking blower for the L if that happened.I like the mirror idea and I guess for cheap I could start unbolting stuff, bumpers, seats, lights. Then again I guess I should keep the cheap thing reasonable cause" speed costs, how fast do you want to go?".

How much does the bed wiegh?

I don't know your weight but...
Save money on food and lose 50 lbs.

Spike

You loose 1/10 sec for every 100-110lbs. of weight removed from the vehicle.

spare tire 55lbs.
reciever hitch 50lbs.
tailgate 45lbs.
front sway bar 25lbs.
passenger seat 60lbs. (not sure. haven't weighed yet)
-------
Total 235lbs. est. (2 1/4 tenths of a sec)

If your truck runs a 13.4 it will go down to a 13.275.

Just a little FYI

Those are all good to remove weight, but, you are short on traction and all the weight that you are removing is in the BACK!Try and find weight that can be removed on the ft.Sway bar, battery, get the ft end up in the air fast and the rear down or atleast flat. One thing that I do is reaise the back of the hood up and remove the weather strip seal.that will help get the air out of the engine compartment.

Ruslow is right. I tryed running 1/4 tank of fuel with my drag radials last year and all I did was spin. I'm looking forward though to see what the addition of aluminum heads(reduction of 50lbs) will do.

I'm thinking alum. heads would be a very good mod.I'd get rid of wieght off the front where it hurts the most and gain HP too.I've been looking at porting the stock GT40s but I believe some of the alum heads on the market would be a much better setup. If I clear a project or two out of the garage,I'll be going alum. heads and a custom cam for sure.

Where Y'at GreenStang, What Justin said is right, but on a 3000lb car. I don't think the gain will be that much on a 4500lb. truck. Traction is where its at!;) If you loose all that wt. in the back, look to add a little with some traction bars.
