Any one race a 454ss

I've spanked a couple of them.
Don't know what or if anything was done to them, I just beat them down.:h

I have

I've raced one, oh wait, I have one. I haven't lost to a Lightning yet. But I've only raced two, a 02' Blue and a Gen I w/ a cowl hood, don't know what was under the cowl hood. I ate both of them up pretty badly.

I went to the 1/8th mile track on Friday, and I saw a black Gen I and a Black GenII there. Didn't have a chance to line up against either one of them, but the GenII broke something at the starting line and had to be pushed off the track, probably a u-joint, but he was in street tires.

There will be lots of 454ss' at the Sport Truck Shootout this August, so everyone should go and you'll see some that aren't stock.

Define: "Ate both of them pretty badly," or I'm gonna have to raise the BS flag on you. That 502 better be blown.

Good point!! A 502 is'nt a 454. If in fact you did "eat a 02 Lightning pretty badly" then you my friend have a very rare 454ss.

Guys,

Foxspy is legit. He has been around the NLOC for quite while and is one of only two or three that I can think of that frequents the board. He's a cool dude:tu: so find out about his combo before you raise any BS flags.

If you say a 502 put into a 454SS is not a 454SS anymore, I think you are wrong. It is just another mod, like throwing a stroker in a Gen 1 or a blower on a Gen 1. Granted, the engine size is in the name, but that's just how GM does things.

I know if I was in a Gen 2 and pulled up next to an SS with a rumpity-rump idle at a red light , I'd go when the light from the other direction turns yellow;)

BBCs are nothing to sneeze at, as much as I hate to admit it:m You never know what's in 'em......

Any times yet, Foxspy, on the new combo?

I have to stick by what I said and agree with Got Boost. A 502 block, I believe, is not a 454 block. It would be like sticking a 460 in a Lightning, you would pretty much be an outcast.

Jason Brown is still using a windsor block.

The orginal post was asking about an apples to apples comparsion between a 454SS and a L.

A 502 is the same exact fargin' block as a 454. If a 502 powered truck isn't a 454SS anymore, then I guess I don't have a Lightning anymore - after all, I do have a 393 in mine. That has to be the most ludicrous thing I've ever read here. You guys need to learn to take your beatings like men.

It's not like it being a 502 really matters. I've seen a 454SS with a 454 in it run 12.0s on street tires on the motor, and he had a nice one-fifty shot waiting in the bed "for those pesky Mustangs." Exactly how many Gen 2 Lightnings could outrun that truck when he pressed the button? Exactly ZERO. How many Gen 1s? Perhaps a half-dozen.

It's obvious that some of you guys haven't been around cars long enough to have experienced the potential of the big block Chevy.

Actually I have an L-71 'vette in my stable. If i were to put a 502 in it, the 427 emblems on the hood would be a lie. A 454 SS has a 454! lol. What's up with you people?

Ok, here's the answer to the original post:

Jason Brown's Lightning beats any 454SS stock or otherwise.

Lightning wins!

Everybody agree?:tu:
