[Edit][UPDATE for new readers]
The morning February 9th, we're arranging to meet at JJ's shop in Columbia. I'll post directions this week. There will be light snacks and food available. This will be around 10AM, everyone meet up there. We can have a chance to check out everyone's vehicles, meet some new friends, and get comfortable. We also want to register at that time who is there, and where they're coming from.

Afterwards, we'll be heading out to Baltimore (very short ride) for the Motor Trend Auto Show. Carpooling is suggested, but not required. After the show, back to JJ's for an evening of fun, poker games, and let's see if we can get a reservation at a local restaurant for dinner.

You can arrange with JJ if you want any work done to your vehicle at this day. He has a fully equipped shop, and it will be at his disposal that day. He can be contacted at: jjssvt@jjssvt.com

Black 2000, JJ, and I (Brian) are trying to get everything arranged. If you have any questions or concerns, please email one of us. (Click one of the links in this paragraph)

If you haven't already posted that you're coming, please do so soon, or email one of us.

Thanks!
[END OF UPDATE]

OK, guys. Let's get the ball rolling here. The weekend of February 9th and 10th will be the Motor Trend International Truck Show at the Baltimore Convention Center. What better place and time to have a great turnout of the area's Lightning owners, Gen1 and Gen2. Dirty or clean, fast or slow, it doesn't matter, we need you.

I propose: The weekend of the show, we need to get everyone together that's interested. Tell others that aren't even part of NLOC, let's show them that there is a community building in our area, and that we love our trucks. We'll meet up in the parking lot at a predetermined time, preferably in the afternoon. This gives everyone time to check out the car show, and for those that don't want to, they can just show up directly at the parking lot. Have a few minutes for everyone to meet and greet, then a nice at-speed cruise to Columbia, to Hilmuth Automotive, where JJ has graciously allowed us to meet and hang out for the time.
Columbia is a very short drive from Baltimore, and I dream to see at least a dozen Lightnings in wing formation, roaring down the highway.

I'd also like this to be a time where we can gauge if there is ample support and involvement to create our own regional Lightning group. We're stuck in the crevice between DelValLO, and NVLOPE, and I think we need representation, too.

I want this to be as family friendly as possible, too. Show your wife that this is a group of people that she doesn't have to worry about leading you astray :) No drinking if you're driving, no speeding, no burnouts, or makeshift drag racing. I know I can trust you guys on this.

What do you think? Who's in for it? If anything, it's a good chance to check out some hto concept cars, and show your own truck off to fellow enthusiasts.
Information on the show can be found at:

Count me in!!!! I've already started to place an order with JJ while I'm up there for the Auto Show.
I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the best get togethers yet.

:D

I'm glad to see that someone is trying to organize.

Make It So

So, make it.

I'm in. Except for one thing that Brian said that kinda bugs me..."No speeding."

I'm not sure I understand that concept. Not the "speeding" part, I got that...It's the "no" thing I can't quite seem to grasp...

GET THERE,
CL

Speeding is just "Cruise Control" for the impatient! :D J/K
Let's all just get together and have a good time.
Hey Condor glad to see that you're going.

I'll be there. Do you think this will only be a "day thing", or do you guys think you might want to hang out somewhere afterwards? Does anyone play poker, or be interested in a poker game?

Hey Cobra!

Actually JJ, of JJSSVT has arranged to have his shop open on Saturday, so that we can all meet up there.
How do you play poker? Is there money involved?
J/K :D

Im in if i can get off work,my days off are different every week.If some one can keep me posted and remind me would be a big help.

Awesome! OK, I tried to make a post last night (and then got 'too busy' error, and then 'page expired' so I expired and went to bed instead).

Saturday afternoon. Let's give some time for people to take in the show, have a lunch, and rest a bit. And also give time for those sleeping in (me). How about a 2PM meeting in the area? Now, here's one thing I'm not sure on. I've never been to the convention center (I think). Is there on-site parking at the center, or are you forced into parking garages?

If it's on-site, great, we can meet up outside of the center. If not, then let's hear some opinions. Maybe we can just set a time to meet at JJ's shop, and give everyone directions beforehand?

This is 3 weeks away from today, and I'll routinely update/bump it.

Last year at the car show, we parked in the garage. It was expensive, but there's not much of a choice.

BLACK2000- Is there any other way to play poker other than with money????? :D

How about this.

Money huh? I don't know how to play then, how about a couple of friendly games with some money and I'll figure the rest of it out:D
I believe that there is a parking garage, I'm into the idea of everyone meeting up at JJ's first and then going to the show or the other way around. I figure that if we do decide to go to the show first then we need to definately decide on a meeting point, I can't see there being a parking garage with enough room for everyone to meet in. O.K. so maybe I'm planning/hopping on a really big turn-out, but realisticly I hate trying to park in those garages, so I say parking is a free-for-all and that we all meet up in front of the Convention Center. Anyone have any NLOC apparaell or anything that we could look out for:)
Anyone else have any suggestions????

JJSSVT, he is a distributor of JDM parts and from what I understand one hell of a 1st and 2nd Gen.Lightning mechanic. JJ's shop is located over in Columbia,MD.
After the show I'm hoping to get some stuff intsalled at his shop, guess we'll see when we get there.

:D
Oh yeah directions, I almost forgot, heres the directions he gave me from my house in St.Mary's county: route 3 north to route 32 west towards columbia, first exit bear right and then right at first light(snowden river parkway), 3rd light make left (oakland mills rd),1st light make right(oak hall lane)then 3rd driveway on left is the back of teh shop.
Anyone else plan on getting some stuff while there up there, If so you may want to let JJ know, so he can be sure to have it in stock.

I'll be there in my NLOC shirt. Anyone else that owns one, how about wearing it, too?

Many thanks to Black 2000 for his behind-the-scenes help. We'll be planning sodas and snacks for the meeting.

Meeting up at JJ's before the show is also a good idea. I could see a 1 or 2PM meeting at JJ's, then everyone break up to go to the show (if so interested). That might make things easier to plan, and also you can find some new friends to check out the nice cars with. Sometimes I forget how hellacious parking in Baltimore can be, especially on event weekends.

If we met after the show, I could foresee many people showing up late due to parking/traffic or maybe being arrested for drooling on a Saleen S7.

What does everyone think? Black 2000 has a good idea of meeting before the show, everyone agree?

Hey Brian

I think that would work out best, does anyone disagree? Or have another suggestion? Remember everyone we are still trying to get a Local Club for the Maryland/DC owners, so if everone can make it please show, I know I'm interested in seeing how many will turn out!
Besides if I can I'd like to drop my truck off at JJ's and get somethings installed! Hopefully the shop is completely open and can do it.:D See everyone in February!

I like that Plan!!!

What does everyone think? Anyone else plan on getting anything done? Hey JJ, got the number I'll give you a call tomorrow if that's O.K. and arrange everything with you.:D
Hopefully I'll have my throttlebody from JDM by then.

Pizza, beer, and poker???? Wellllllllllllllllllll OK! :D
I think if we meet at your shop it would be best to double up and ride down in pairs. It will be easier to park, easier to keep up with everyone, and if we do have to park somewhere with outrageous parking costs, we'll just split the cost. It would be great to see twice as many Lightnings rolling down the road, but this is probably the most practical idea. Anyone else?

Welllllllll,

Seeing how my truck will be sitting at the shop anyways, I like the idea, just got to make sure we get JJs ok to leave the trucks parked at his shop. I don't think he'll mind, but I'll ask him.
Later...

O.K. for park and ride

Just talked to JJ on the phone today, and he doesn't have a problem with leaving some of the rides behind at his shop while we "car pool" to the Convention Center.
Anyone getting anything done while there up there? I'm going with the Dial-A-Boost, the 2#lower blower pulley, the traction bars and of course getting the spark plugs replaced.:D After reading some of the posts about installing those things I decided that I'd let a professional handel it.;)
