A Gen1 FAQ

Brian Baskin

I didn't want to step on anyone toes of anyone else thay may be working on one. Basically, due to surgery, I've been stuck in my apartment since last Thursday. Well, video games and movies only go so far, so this morning I started work on a Gen1 FAQ. I want an all-in-one page for all info for our trucks, virtually all modifications, who makes what, part #'s, prices, and eventually install write-ups. Here's the three hours i put into it today:

A good start, I think. I'm a natural researcher, and have been plugging away at this board, and google for awhile :) I'm going to go as far as I can before I start ripping off Jeff Sparkman's page, and Vern Jones' list :)

AWESOME!!!!!!

Definitely like what youv'e done here.I recently bought a 94"L",and it's nice to be able to find out little things like these.
thanks,
Dwight

WOW!! keep it up man! Can I make some suggestions since you have such a good start? maybe the stock cam specs. and stuff covering shift kits!

Great Job! I've been looking for some general info on the exhaust and you addressed it perfectly. General info that is not based on opinion.

Thanks.

That mileage is what I get..As long as you don't drive like a knob...I mean I hotrod around and still get that kind of mileage.. I've found it makes a bit of difference on the ambient temp, my mileage goes WAY down in the winter.

i normally get 14 around town and 18 on the highway and ive gotten as good as 20 on the highway

dont drive like a tool and youll be amazed how much of a difference it makes

Very true. I've been loggin all my miles for the last two weeks and i'm getting around 16mpg highway on oxygenated gas, which truly sucks.

on the other hand, driving like a total knob gets me very low mpg figures...hahahah.

That is fantastic Brian, please please finish it!

Holler at me on ICQ when and if you need a little help.

I caught myself still trying to scroll down at the end I was so interested, and thought my keyboard was broke or something lol.

BIG :tu:

Ya very good job, that's just what a noob like me needed to read for the information I was looking for.

Great job and thanks.

I have it printed out already.

:D

OK, a little info about camshafts is in there, just uploaded a new copy. But, I know nothing about them. A lot of the info I took off from HotRod/Raymond, and few other experts on here :) I need to finish lowering kits, and hit K&N filters by lunch. Problem is, I am finally able to walk today :) Which means back to work for me tomorrow, doh.

OK, just posted my latest update, and taking a breather. If anyone wants, search through it for "??" and see if you can verify or fix my errors. :) Also, let me know anything else you want added.

Next I'll knock out the hoods/rollpans/ tube bumper caps, maybe even rearends.

How about some info on the diesel tube. Not sure how that differs from the 460ci that you mentioned. Also, what about shift kits...what the heck is a Level 10? etc.

The diesel tube is the same thing as the 460 tube, just different names, different style engines, but used the same part. LOL, I'm putting off shift kits for now until later, maybe last. I have no clue how they work, just know a few of the ones out there.
