Met a guy who has a 300zx NA version. Was curious to know how it wouls stack against my L ;)

how about it IF it was the turbo version?

I know his has no nitrous or so he said. I think the NA versions are nice but I think I recall correctly that it would take a lot to get it to keep up.

No competition at all - IF it's stock. If he's a good driver, with a stick, it MAY be a high 14-second car... But it's most likely more like mid 15-second. Even with nitrous it'll have trouble with you.

The turbo version is another story... I've run a couple stock, and they're respectable, but not quite there... But, it's not hard to make them real quick, then... Watchout:eek:

I drove a turbo version a few weeks ago, but it was an automatic..It supposedly had a Stillen chip on it, pushing close to 400HP...It was fast, but like the guy who was thinking about buying it(former Gen2 owner, 12 sec truck) said it didn't feel like it would run with the L...Put it in a corner and that's a different story, those cars are unreal in a corner

Back in summer of 91 I bought a new 300Zx Twin Turbo. Man I still miss that car! It was rated at 300hp stock. I kept up with or out ran Corvettes in the twisties and on the strip (100% stock and on street tires) my unskilled abilities managed to drive it to fairly consistent 14.1's at around 101 mph. I had never raced a turbo on the strip before and I know that car would have hit high 13's with a good driver. So a turbo is probably a good race for an L, although an 01 or 02 should be quicker.

The new maxima is quicker than the 90 to 96 300ZX NA. The old 300Z was only rated at 222HP (or something real close to that) and only about 200 in the torque dept. Also needed a Jenny Criag workout. I actually was looking to buy one (still think they look awesome, even now) but found the up kept was very $$$ on the turbo version.

You'll destroy him, especially the N/A version. I had a 90 300zx Twin Turbo with some mods, very nice car but not near as much fun as the L.
