Finally got a chance to let the L run tonight. A buddy of mine owns a way moded 97TA, and decided to give the L some action.Well, we line up... timing is perfect...no one on the road but me and him....light goes green! I floor it! :( And that is when It's over.... The L does not hook at all like I expected. It almost seemed like it hesitated for about what seemed like a second, by then I was almost a car length back. I don't know what happened:confused: It has never done that to me before. I was not in o\d . Ac off. and no one but me in the truck. I had to concede the race. So He gives me another shot. This time not so lucky to catch the green light together so we wait till traffic is clear ahead of us. Then the 1.2.3. and were off.....this time I shoot like a bat out hell and I leave him like he was standing still:rolleyes: So when we finally pull over. My buddy says when we hit the second time, the L looked it came off the ground. Could not believe his eyes when the front end lifted. I think it just popped a little but not enough to leave the ground. Anyways, about this time the L is emitting a strong smell, like a burnt odor. I'm wondering if this could be something I should be concerned with. I've let the L run before..., a few times actually, and this has never happened before. Anyone out there with any ideas.? Any advice would be helpful. Temp outside was about 55 degrees, L has 6400 miles on it.., and oil was changed about 600 miles ago.The only thing done to her so far has been adding a k\n oil filter. Sorry this post was so long.

I get that same burning smell in mine, almost every time I run it. I think the other guys get it too, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless someone says otherwise.

Dont worry...its just the L tryin to spit that toasted firechicken out the Converter!!!! ROFLMAO!:Y

Nice run:tu:

now heres a cookie.

On a side note...the Mustang GT does that too...but i think its from the front and rear main seals(or front timing cover... I can see the wet spot but its not that bad. (damn car has 95500 on it you expect SOME leaks)

I wouldnt think you wouldnt have that problem..

Took the L in to have it checked out today. Decision was made after she was having more hesitation on start up this morning. They (ford) will need to keep her for a few days. The L also has a new problem. She is having a tough time getting out of 3rd gear....I fuigered it would be best to have a complete look over....Especially since I just ordered some toys for her from JDM. If all goes well.... should have her toys installed by beginning of next week.

Well, good luck finding the burning smell. My scratch-n-smell monitor isn't working so I can't tell you what it might be!:D

well, if it is a rotten egg/sulfurous smell, then its your cats...unless of course, you store rotten eggs underhood

Read my post on bad service here. Apparently they say everything has been checked thoroghly, But I came to find out later they caused more harm than good:eek:

P.S. rotten eggs? Nope ...can't say the smell was even close.... checked with another buddy of mine on that and everything seems normal...We still don't know what caused it to keep from turning over the next morning.....But it hesitating on launch is no more:tu:
