140amp Alternator

I'm putting some subs and other stuff in my truck and I have March UD's. Would putting a 140amp alternator in be a good move? BTW, I think it's going bad anyway.

Yes that would help out a lot. You could go buy an alternator for an E250 Van, I think they are 130 amp and only cost about $5 more than a replacement for the L's

I thought the L's came stock with 130amp alt. To me it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference. Now if you could find the 200 amp 3G then that is what I would do.

I believe you are correct. The L's already have the heavy duty alternator. Just last week I drove over an hour on alternator power alone. No battery. Once we jumpstarted the truck I headed home which was about a hour or so trip and picked up a new battery (warranty replacement). As long as I didn't shut the truck off I was fine.

Well, I'm probably off on the Amp rating, but I do know the one I got for an E250 had alot higher rating, and a bigger case, could have been a 180-190 Amp. I just asked for a 93 E250, since my L is a 93. When you go to order it he'll give you two different ratings to choose from, just ask for the higher one.

I also have and amp and subs and the voltmeter would jump around if you played it loud. Since the change to the bigger alternator, the needle doesn't move.
